Summary
It was one fateful, rainy evening that Aventurine walked into an unknown coffee shop. It was late, he needed something to help him get through the night's work... And it turned out that his caffeine came with something he hadn't realized he needed: lectures, banter, and real, genuine companionship. In short, it was Dr. Veritas Ratio that he'd really needed.

Summary
In a Penacony that has seen its last vampire purges many years ago, the vampiric race is long believed to be extinct, completely eradicated. Unbeknownst to its human inhabitants, few vampires still remain even to this day, inconspicuously blending in with society. Aventurine—a young vampire and second year Finance student at Paperfold University—is the perfect example, living a peaceful, average student-life. That is, until one night a small oversight on his part causes him to be caught by a bright-haired Medicine student with a surprisingly sharp tongue, irrevocably intertwining their paths.
OR
Modern Paperfold University AU in which Aventurine, a young vampire, gets caught by Ratio, and all due chaos ensues.

Summary
“‘What’s on your mind, then? You only get quiet like this when you’re in pain or your mind is elsewhere.’
Phainon chuckles. ‘Right. Well… Sometimes I just remember some things clearer than others. Sometimes it’s all the fun we had even on harsher missions and the time together in between, other times it’s all the killing and dying… But there’s one memory that’s been playing in my mind today. One you might remember, too.’
‘Oh?’
‘Cycle 2691.’
‘...I’m afraid you’ll have to specify for me. I can’t remember by number…’
‘You really are terrible with numbers,’ Phainon teases.
‘HKS,’ Mydei mutters.
‘It’s the one where we nearly reached Era Nova… together.’”Or:
A look into Phainon and Mydei’s lives in the Eternal Page, and their hopes to remain at each others’ sides beyond it.

Lan Wangji's mid-Autumn Festival letter to Wei Wuxian inspired this work. I found myself wondering how, after the events of the novel, the dynamics had shifted so starkly.
So... I wrote it out.
I hope you enjoy!

Summary
Caelus clears his throat, wills himself for patience, and then straightens. “What has Aventurine done now, and why do you need my help specifically?”
“The gambler —” Ratio reaches into his breast pocket, “has clearly riled the wrong people and is now languishing in a casino.”
“…is that…not…normal for Aventurine…”
“Not when he is being offered as the ‘grand prize’, no.” Ratio hands a dark piece of card to Caelus, who turns it over to read.
Poker Tournament. Grand prize: the last remaining Agvin - in mostly excellent condition. Raise the stakes, and play well!
Aventurine has gotten himself into rather the situation...

Summary
“Ziyuan,” Jiang Fengmian asks one evening as both him and his wife are preparing for bed. “Do you notice how our youngest tends to attract…a different sort of trouble?”
Ziyuan, who’s been busy removing her pearl earrings, goes still. She looks at him through the reflection of her vanity mirror. “Trouble? Our A-Cheng?” The unspoken ‘how absurd’ tacked on to the end is as clear as day. Still, she asks, “What do you mean?”
Ah, how can he put this delicately without sounding preposterous? “By trouble I mean in the form of attention.” A pause. “Lots of attention. Possibly in the form of, uh, seasoned gentlemen.”
Yu Ziyuan turns around and gives him a long, quiet stare. “Fengmian,” she enunciates slowly, carefully, “are you telling me that our son is a magnet for perverted old men?”

Summary
Ratio clenched his jaw.
A minor error in the computation, one to be resolved later — to amend, fix, refine — and ensure that his speech module modelled after Aventurine's original speech patterns were working, reprogrammed if necessary.
The man in front of him was not Aventurine.
Ratio swallowed around the lump around his throat.
"Let's go."
Ratio, on grief, and loss.

Summary
He feels rather than sees the knife plunge itself into his stomach, its curved blade forcing its way through flesh and tendons until it strikes the tiny golden core he’d worked so hard on. He can feel the moment the cold steel makes contact with his qi, and the resulting feeling of something rupturing inside of him. Then, he can feel the all too familiar sensation of his tiny golden core, crumbling.
Out of the corner of his eye, he can see his brother sprinting towards him, arm outstretched, yelling something at him. And right in front of him, he can see the assassin, raising his hand towards Wei Wuxian’s chest. Oh, so that’s how it’s going to end. Another goddamn cliff…Series
