One of my all time favourite fics ever, seriously!!
The relationships between the characters are so well written and it just makes them feel so real with every interaction,, it really reminds you that these are just children going through some terrible things. It's a wonderful balance of hurt and comfort.
This works' retellings of canon events are so much more intense and so incredibly compelling, I adored it - every chapter had me on the edge waiting for the next update.
Also who doesn't love bamf quirkless Izuku??This is also part of a series, with a sequel 'Defiance' in progress

“So—um,” Natsuo says next, “Do you and Hawks know each other at all? We invited Hawks-san because we like to have lunch with him. Sorry for the surprise—but the more the merrier, right?”
Dabi slurps noodles once more.
“Did you…um,” Fuyumi adds next, “ever run into each other?”
“I tried to kill him,” Dabi says next. “I burned his wings.”
There’s a squeak. Natsuo’s and Fuyumi’s eyes widen.
“Don’t worry,” Hawks reassures. “I lived.”
“Stubborn bastard,” Dabi grumbles almost immediately. He lifts the bowl to sip broth. “I threw him out a window.”
“I lived then, too,” Hawks reassures before they can have another scandalized gasp. “Don’t worry. It’s how he shows his affection.”

Post-war, Todoroki Touya is pardoned from his crimes, while Hawks gains a new title: the Dabi Whisperer.

An absolutely brilliant post-war fic in my opinion. Dabi's and Hawks' relationship is so wonderfully developed - neither sugar-coating or dwelling on their less than stellar history. This fic not only focuses on their relationship but also, the complicated dynamics of the Todoroki family as Dabi and co. adjust after the war in a way that is authentic and light-hearted. Hawks' pov is both insightful as well as entertaining - from navigating what it is to be surrounded by people who care for him, concerning his poor intern Tokoyami and just having a good time - this fic is amusing, heartfelt and compelling.

Absolutely adore this fic it's so fun to see Jefferson's pov and his shifting views and relationship with his son both with and without the mask. Light-hearted and funny - an absolute reread for sure!
