The words seemed to slowly sink into James' sponge brain as he lifted his arm and rolled his shoulder once, twice, with a faint crack before inching closer. “So you admit it.”
“Don’t push your luck, James.”
Or, Regulus tricks Barty into having quite the domestic date with James. It goes… well? Maybe more than well, considering Barty may have caught feelings by the end of it.

James smiles lazily in Barty’s arms, trying to hold back a laugh as he watches Marlene wobble on the table in the center of the common room. Dorcas is screeching at her while Mary spurs her further on in trying to backflip off of it.
The room is hot and the air is sticky despite them leaving windows open. They’ve played plenty of drinking games and had loud conversations, but as the night went on nearly everyone else had returned to their dorms. Though as usual, James and the rest of them found themselves still enjoying the now mellowed party.
“I love you,” James tilts his head back to look at Barty with a soft smile. He’s still smiling when Barty leans forward to kiss his lips softly and nearly melts when he whispers, “I love you too, baby.”

James coughed awkwardly, his eyes darting everywhere except Regulus' face. "Maybe… Maybe I do."
Regulus' eyebrows shot up in surprise. "You want to kiss me?" he asked, just to make sure.
"Yes." James sheepishly glanced at him. "If you're okay with that."
Regulus was very, very okay with that. In fact, a rather large part of him had been hoping they'd already kissed last night, so that another kiss would be more likely to happen. He'd never admit that out loud, of course, and certainly not to James.
"I suppose I am okay with that."
Or, Regulus wakes up on the morning of New Year's Day in a bed that isn't his, and it just so happens to belong to James Potter.
