She tried to pick out Robin's voice from the mingled harmony, to catch the brilliant thread of her song and let it pull her apart. There was nothing in the world like Robin's music for making her feel both joy and despair.
A stronger woman would stop coming to these services. She didn't even believe in Xipe. As the funeral director, she'd made all the arrangements for this service but that didn't mean she needed to attend. And yet she did. Every funeral. Every Saturday service. Robin's voice a lifeline that drew her back and back again.

Summary

DogDay needs to relearn how to walk, while also trying to piece back the fragments of his lost memory, and struggle to understand why everyone acts so strange... and why CatNap suddenly seems so keen on keeping his distance, as if sheltering him from some hidden truth.
But CatNap was never good at keeping secrets, and there’s something unspoken between them that refuses to stay buried.

Summary
Prologue: The secrets of the Playtime Company are deep-seated in the earth. Experimentations, torture, coercion and murder were everyday occurrences. But they say sometimes a place so rooted in darkness, fear and pain can bring the attention of greater forces to it; and something out there in the universe decided a long time ago that second chances at a good life was well deserved.
Summary: When DogDay died after being taken over by the mini-Critters, he thought that was the end. But he was surprised when he opened his eyes again to a new world, so familiar to the one he was trapped in, but also so much freer and safer. It's a world where the children of Playtime Co were given a second chance to live, without the tortures of their previous lives. As more characters join their new world, tendrils from the old one reaches in and threatens to destroy their lives once more. It is up for the tortured souls of Playtime to make another stand against the forces that threaten their happiness and peace.

Summary
On Valentine’s Day, CatNap finally gathers the courage to confess his long-hidden feelings to DogDay. He spends the entire morning overthinking every possible outcome, clutching a small gift and rehearsing the words in his head.
But before CatNap can speak, another Critter suddenly confesses to DogDay first. DogDay doesn’t immediately accept or reject the confession—he just says he needs time to think. From CatNap’s perspective, that hesitation feels like quiet acceptance.
Heartbroken and embarrassed, CatNap leaves before anyone notices how upset he is.
Later that afternoon, he ends up alone by the lake on campus, crying quietly and convinced that he was foolish to believe DogDay could ever feel the same.
That’s when a stranger approaches him.
