Summary
A few months after the Inquisition is formally disbanded, Vivienne finds herself dealing with the consequences of Divine Victoria's decision to abolish the Circle of Magi and Templar Order. Desperate to keep the Montsimmard Circle alive, she turns to an unlikely ally: the irritating, confounding, and distressingly handsome Blackwall.
But Vivienne is no fairytale maid. And he is no gallant knight, wrapped up in shining, silver armor.
And they both deserve more.

Summary
Hawke reckons with two ghosts: her troubled memories of her father, and the old woman who won’t let her fall asleep.
“Sister,” Bethany said, voice watery, her eyes shut with pain. “He’s dead.”
“He’s not,” Hawke said. Her spoonful of egg remained frozen halfway between her plate and her mouth. “He’s in the bedroom with Mother. He’s just sleeping, Bethany.”
“He’s breathing,” Bethany agreed quietly, “but he’s already dead. He’s been dead for a while.”

Summary
Lavellan has trouble recognizing her reflection. Being with Cullen helps, sometimes.
With his first arrow, the human hunter slew his wife’s brother. With his second arrow, he slew his wife. As their blood poured over the rocky shore and seeped into the water, he declared their deaths retribution for the harm done to his village.
“And that’s why humans and elves don’t belong together,” her grandmother would say to conclude her story, nodding in her self-satisfied way. “Do you understand, little one?”

Summary
She feels him behind her, the unmistakable presence of another body, warm, breathing. Anders is taller than her, a fact that she’s always been aware of. But now she feels almost too aware; aware of the feather-light touch on her side, his breath behind her ear, the way another hand comes to rest on her shoulder.
“Let me help,” Anders says, his voice low.
Hawke doesn’t say a word. She slowly reaches her left arm out to give him access.

Summary
Lae'zel crash-lands on Toril and falls in love. She hadn't meant to do the former, and she certainly hadn't meant to do the latter—but there's something about Wyll that's so indeterminate.
“Ready?” Wyll asks her, grinning. His stone eye gleams in the firelight as he rolls his shoulders in anticipation of the fight ahead.
“Our enemies will fall,” Lae'zel assures him.
He just laughs and adopts a defensive fencing stance. “I believe it.”
