“Woah!” Jisung said just as Minho was about to press their lips together. He pushed Minho back a little bit as he felt his heart rate accelerating. “I’m straight! I don’t! I’m not! No!”
“Oh shit, I’m sorry.” Minho laughed, putting a little space between them and taking his hand from Jisung to rub the back of his hair as he smiled bashfully.
“I don’t… Why did you think I was gay?” Jisung asked, his eyes wide and brow furrowed as he started to worry.
“I didn’t look at you and think ‘he looks gay, I’m gonna kiss him’ I looked at you and thought ‘he looks pretty, I’m gonna try and kiss him’.”
“Oh…” Jisung breathed.-
Jisung struggled to fit in, to feel normal and to flow with the rest of the world. He knew he liked women, of course he did. So why when he met Minho did everything become so much better and worse all at once?

“I just—I’m really happy,” Jisung says, brushing Minho’s bangs aside and making butterflies flutter in his stomach. “And I wanna make you happy, too.”
There’s a lump in Minho’s throat all of a sudden, one of a vague unease he can’t quite place. “Stop being cheesy,” he mumbles around it, laying his head back on Jisung’s chest. “I’m happy,” he adds, and he means it, appreciates Jisung’s care even if part of him inexplicably wishes Jisung wouldn’t be so goddamn sweet and kind to him.
He just isn’t quite sure what to do with himself.
(alternatively: Minho struggles with the startling realization of how hard and fast he's fallen for Jisung while past relationship trauma slowly claws its way to the surface, and his fear and doubts continue to fester until they're impossible to ignore—until he just might ruin the best thing that's ever happened to him.)

Minho stares at him, his gaze heavy with that something Jisung can’t quite place. He still can’t figure it out. In the dim light of the kitchen, Minho’s dark chocolate eyes sparkle, his pupils unmoving, pinning Jisung in place.
“Go out with me.”
Jisung feels his knees go weak and grips the counter, praying his legs won’t give out now.
“W-what?”
“Go on a date with me,” Minho says, gaze unwavering.
“Why?” Jisung asks, probably sounding like an idiot.
“So I can show you how you deserve to be treated on a date,” Minho says, frowning now. “And spoil you, like you want. So you won’t settle for less than this ever again.”
Oh.
Oh, okay. A date. As friends.
Jisung can do that.
After yet another failed relationship, Jisung swears off dating for good. But Minho, his best friend and the guy he’s not in love with, won’t let him give up on love that easily.

Jisung’s lips stretch kindly around his next words; these words that yank at Minho’s core and quietly request the truth, “You’ve gone so soft on me. It makes me wonder where this Minho has been hiding the whole time.”
This Minho comes from long-sleeves in torrid weather, from sidelong glances to burn the shape of Jisung’s profile into perfect recollection. Heart-shaped smiles framing that one crooked tooth. Hours spent lazing on the bench and strolling down the busy city streets of food markets. Bruises from hands that should heal them, fear flickering in pretty doe eyes at the thought of going back home, and a bed that feels too big now. This Minho comes from the deepest, most terrifying pit in Minho’s heart.
