Jango and Obi-Wan hijack a freighter and go on a galactic road trip to kill a man.

Montross is a little cleverer on Korda VI. Jango ends up tossed into the cargo hold of 'The Stryker', a slaver freighter taking him to parts unknown and well out of Montross's way. Melida/Daan, weakened by its infighting and the Young suffering catastrophic losses, are raided by opportunistic slavers, resulting in Obi-Wan captured as a prize to be sold to a 'special' client - Force sensitive slaves are, after all, valuable cargo (and there is a dark shadow in the galaxy always on the look out for forgotten, powerful Force sensitives).
By sheer luck - or maybe the Force - they're locked in cages beside each other. They plan, they escape... and the future shifts.

Obi-Wan peers at the table for a long time.
“Out of those?” he asks, pointing at the bones.
(Xanatos comes home and Qui-Gon ends up with two padawans at the same time at wildly different stages of life. The lineage comes together to try to help both get settled, and of course it can't be straightforward.)

Master Jinn meets the eye of this child in silence and then, he kneels. Before Obi-Wan, he kneels. And yet, Obi-Wan, bandaged and misshaped by heavy, inflexible cloth, does not go to him. He lowers his blanket-hooded face to the ground and stares there. Tired.
Anakin’s master has never seemed so far gone. He looks but does not see. Master Jinn carefully brings his hand up and cups Obi-Wan’s young cheeks and chin. He looks into those eyes now and they say nothing to each other.
(Anakin and Ahsoka witness the reunion of Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon in the aftermath of Melida/Daan. It isn't pretty.)

The CMO’s office was a tiny thing, space carved out of a former cleaning closet, but it was big enough for a cot and a desk, a rolling stool shoved between. Fox lazily saluted Mercy, and she rolled her eyes at him.“Armor off,” she said tightly. Fox didn’t protest the tone - he was there for a reason, and they both knew it. He stripped down to his blacks, and hauled himself up onto the cot. A few months ago, it had creaked every time he sat on it. Now, it was silent.
Part of him, the part that was foolish, hoped that Mercy had just oiled the wheels. The rest of him knew the bitter truth.
