So, Kate Bishop. Yes, Yelena tries not to think about her. The missions usually help. The alcohol definitely helps. But there’s no vodka here, no extraction team coming, no last-minute reprieve. Just the steady beep-beep-beep of the timer and the temperature that rises along with the cold acceptance that there’s no getting out of this one.
Or, Yelena hasn't seen Kate in more than a year and it takes almost dying a few too many times for her to finally do something about it.

There is so much of herself that she's never known existed, so many simple pleasures that she's never experienced, and she wants to dig her roots deep and drink up every possible second of it to make up for the time that she's lost.

“What are you actually doing here? What do you want?” Kate points a finger at her, “And don’t be a dick.”
Yelena frowns in outrage at the accusation and sets on finishing her slice of pizza instead of engaging.
Just about when Kate decides that she’s not getting an answer, Yelena’s hand catches her wrist in a firm yet gentle grasp, “I wanted something normal, okay? Happy now?”
“Something normal?” Kate quirks an eyebrow.
“Yeah, you know, walking the dog, someone to watch movies with… maybe getting that drink.” Yelena shrugs slowly, the hint of a smile curving one side of her lips, “With you I don’t have to pretend, it feels normal.” a pause, “I feel normal.”

“What?” Yelena asked, craning her neck to look up at her girlfriend who was still standing behind her. “What does it say?”
Kate’s look of anger melted into an uncontrollable giggle as she raised her hand to her mouth to stifle the laugh while she recited the article “The most interesting thing about the new Hawkeye is her budding romance with Spider-Man who, as seen pictured below, seems to be caring more about their feelings for each other than they do protecting the fine citizens of New York City.”
“What!” Yelena and Peter said simultaneously.
Or
The New Avengers receive their first negative article, a rumour circulates about Kate and Peter, and Yelena can't help but feel jealous.

Tomorrow (or, she supposes, later today), Scylla knows she probably won’t remember much of tonight. She’s had enough to drink to be aware of and mostly fine with that particular fact. She knows she’ll have a pounding headache, will probably throw up at least a couple of times, and will tell Anacostia she’s never drinking again (a bare-faced lie if there ever was one).
But, if one thing stays with her it will be this. Raelle, gazing at her like she painted the stars in the sky, appointed the moon its ruler. Raelle, thumbs rubbing at the small of her back, smile so soft Scylla could cry. Raelle, her girlfriend, her best friend, the love of her life, leaning in to press an easy kiss to Scylla’s lips- a kiss full of new beginnings and old promises and an abundance of overwhelming love- before pulling back with a gentle grin.
“Happy New Year, beautiful.” She murmurs, resting her forehead against Scylla’s, eyes heart-achingly soft and raw.
“Happy New Year, Raelle.”

...If Yelena is going to do it, she should do it properly!
She should get down on one knee, look Kate in the eye, and say the words that Kate has been too afraid to admit that she’s been dreaming to hear. Kate should be able to grab her, pull her onto her feet, and tell the silly, nervous woman that of course she’ll marry her, this is the happiest day of her life, she’s never felt more loved. Yelena should be here to wipe away the tears that are streaming down Kate’s face right now, to wrap her arms around Kate, to meet Kate’s lips with her own.
So, no. Hell no. This isn’t over.
She doesn’t care where in the world Yelena is. Kate is going to find her girlfriend, and she is going to make her do this right.
OR
Yelena proposes in an entirely predictable fashion, and Kate learns that sometimes, to get the girl, you have to embrace the unexpected.
