Or: a post-Thunderbolts*, pre-Doomsday fic that bleeds into a "history repeats itself" type of situation with a callback to Civil War. And Bucky is also going insane, but that kinda takes a backseat when the entire multiverse is at stake, doesn't it?

Steve leaned back into him, his fingers careful and light against his skin.
"And I'm...I'm-" Steve said, trying his best not to choke himself up. He had leaned in close now, their noses just touching and Steve could feel his own eyes half lidded and fluttered.
"I'm with you… I'm with you till the end of the line.” Steve sniffed and Bucky smiled. It was bittersweet and shaky but it was still a smile and it was all Steve ever needed.
