to convince you to read it, here is my comment immediately after reading this fic:
holy shit its 6:02 pm where im at and im supposed to be preparing for the 1st day of school tomorrow but i cant focus on that rn because what the fuck is this realistic but humorous and heartwarming depiction of mental illness, in-character dialogue that i can read while hearing the PCs voices express those very lines, and amazingly healthy (not perfect, of course, but healthy) relationship between adaine and fabian? (not actually mad) in fact how dare you write them as a pairing that makes each other better people and compliment each other perfectly? how DARE you write them as a pairing where their friendship dynamic is literally just that of a romantic relationship minus the romance, where they care about each other to a devastating extent, and written in such a way where both reader and characters ask the age old why-the-fuck-were-they-not-dating-forever-ago question? my eyes are literally misty right now from the ending of this chapter and how its written and i have nothing to show for it except this long winded comment that i'll probably come back to in due time when i'm not supposed to be preparing for school??????
my favorite "short" fic (its 5 chapters but 24k words) of fabian/adaine of all time. no further comment.
(except yes further comment because i want to come back to this and read this over and over again and give a FAT comment per each chapter because what the fuck author. what the fuck /pos i am literally speechless rn can i just bottle you my tears and mail it to you as proof of my adoration in how you've written the bad kids' dynamic and the development of fabian and adaine's relationship and their BANTER MY GOD I LOVE THEIR "FUCK ANXIETY" AND "i'm going to help you get through this panic attack" DIALOGUE UUUGHHH I AM SHAKINGGGGGG im literally going to go insane over this fanfic you've given me the written equivalent of bardic inspiration because not only is this the peakest of peak fabadaine content it is also majorly inspiring to me personally because [oops personal stuff ahead] i've been through some fucked relationships and reading this helped heal something inside me a little bit more; i am limited to my own experiences of romantic love and have a hard time visualizing experiencing romantic love in any other way, but this is fantastic reassurance that yes, romantic love does exist in other forms than what i've experienced, and that while it's never perfect, 100% people can and do love in a way that doesn't tear the other person apart. what im saying is fuck yes for depictions of healthy relationships in media and thank you for writing this fic i love the way you write romance and friendships and i'm going to continue to cry in the corner over here until i have a spare moment to come back to this fic)
