Summary
Tonight, though, Ilya lets Shane escape, and Shane collapses onto the bed with a smile, expecting Ilya's familiar weight pinning him to the bed to follow him. He waits about ten seconds before he pushes himself up onto his elbows, smile pulling into confusion as he sees Ilya leaning against the doorframe, sweats slung low on his hips. Somewhere between the living room and the bedroom, Ilya had lost his sweatshirt, and he's gloriously bare chested. Even in his confusion, Shane can't help but let his eyes roam the expanse of skin, heady with the knowledge he can now. That they aren't going to run out of time, that they get to have this. All the time. Whenever they want.
Ilya's smile grows into something more predatory, and his eyes drink in the long lines of Shane's body, stretched out across their bed, waiting for Ilya to come and take. Shane's expecting him to come join him any second, which is why he's so caught off guard when Ilya says, "I want to watch. Like I did in Vegas. Remember?"
And Shane's not proud of this, but Shane flinches. Just a little bit, but enough that Ilya catches it.

Summary
Shane smiles shakily and Ilya lets go, watching him walk up and slot in between Haas and Wyatt. Bood leans forward, "Hollander okay?"
Ilya smiles a little at the concern in his friend's voice, "He will be fine. We will all be fine, because," Ilya raises his voice, carrying over the line of hockey players, "we are winning tonight!"
The ground shakes with the force of the team hitting their sticks against the rubber floors.
Outside, the announcer begins announcing the Centaurs, and within the span of a minute, all of their skates are hitting the ice.
OR
Shane and Ilya play the Stanley Cup finals. And then they celebrate. A lot.

Summary
Eddie watches with silent amusement as Buck wallows in his self-pity. He’s still in this sinfully slutty black muscle tee Eddie is sure was crafted to send him to hell, forehead and biceps glistening from the workout he squeezed in between calls. Eddie’s so in love he wants to drown himself in it.
“Look, I just don’t get why I need to be there, it’s not even an event for my parents. Mom only ever wants Maddie and I around to parade us as a happy little family, complete with grandchildren and all that bullshit,” Buck whines, voice muffled by the long dining table in the loft of the firehouse. Eddie, Chimney, Ravi and Hen are scattered across the loft, Bobby locked in his office filling out paperwork. They’re on the last hour of a 24, everyone eager to finish shift and start their 48 off.
Chimney snorts from across the kitchen, “Look, Maddie isn’t exactly ecstatic about the whole situation either, but the way she sees it, if all of us make the time to go out there, they’ll leave us alone straight through the holidays – no more Buckley parents until next year. That feels like a good enough trade off to me, Buckley, so what’s got your panties all in a twist?”

Summary
“My mom said, uh, that his name was Buck. That he was going to go to the fire academy and that he had a—” she broke off, rubbing her own forehead, exactly where his skin went pink. “She said he went by Firehose.”
Buck didn’t need all of his coworkers to look at him in alarm; he was pretty sure he’d gone deadly pale. His daughter knew four things about him, and one of them was his old tinder profile handle. He felt a little like he was going to die.
“She’s got your eyes,” Eddie commented, unhelpfully.
----
Buck finds out he has a daughter, and also a stupidly big crush on his best friend. It's an adjustment.

Chimney: So I noticed the couch looked remarkably not slept on
Buck: How can you tell if a couch has been slept on??

Chimney: I plead the fifth
Hen: That’s not how that works.
Buck: Why were you in our bedroom????
Chimney: I-

Summary
“I’m showing people Buck!” Eddie explains excitedly, turning his phone screen towards Chimney to show him a picture of Buck smiling at the camera. But after a moment, the joyful expression fades from Eddie’s face, replaced by something more somber.
“I miss him,” he says, his eyes downcast.
“Shit, is he dead?” the stranger slurs. “I’m sorry, man.”
“He is not dead,” Chimney hurries to clarify. “They’re just codependent. Don’t worry about it.”
Or: Buck and Eddie are engaged and have separate bachelor parties. Unfortunately, all either of them can think about is the other's absence.

Summary
Buck had lost-- he was sure of this now. His resolve only lasted a few weeks before his exterior began to crack; he was never a very good actor. He couldn’t keep up the greetings and the asking questions and the easy stroll. He let his shoulders creep up to his ears, let his foot tap incessantly. He did what his Captain told him, but stopped asking for anything more. Stopped following the conversation in the back of the engine on the way to the call; he just stared out the window, thinking about the case to come, preparing for it. When he woke every morning, there was no big recovery milestone to strive for, no big fight for the soul of his career to win. Not even the happy swell of being back on shift -- something so easy to dismiss, that had dominated so much of his life, that he had taken for granted-- that had catalyzed him each morning of his first week back.
An old habit of his had returned. A bad habit.~~
or: after the lawsuit, buck confronts what it was he wanted all along. he looks and looks and longs for it; the team looks right through him. buck breaks-- right down the middle.
