“I’m–” he isn’t. Derek is just someone he once met. Just someone Avery barely knows. Derek is just someone who saved his life and someone who decided Avery was worth more than his own life. But Avery can’t come up with something good to lie to the paramedic’s piercing gaze. “I’m–”
“His boyfriend?” The paramedic asks, a glint in his eye telling Avery that he understands the situation and that he’ll cover for the lie. Avery nods, swallowing hard, and enters the ambulance.

After the events of DAWTDE, Avery finally finds Derek alive. The King is gone, and for the first time, Avery can let himself exhale. When Derek wakes, they have to piece together what happened, but between quiet laughter and fragile smiles, they start to realize that maybe this time, they’ve found each other for good. Even if Derek knows there’s more to it than it seems.

It hits D3rlord3, then. This sounds like goodbye. No, no, no.
They start to pull away, and D3rlord3 desperately gathers his remaining strength to latch on to anything . Nothing wants to cooperate, his body suddenly aching with effort, but still he– fights. He grabs on to their hand, fighting through the smoke and haze, ignoring how his muscles scream in protest and his eyes sting, but it fades to nothing when D3rlord3 touches them again, something unreachable finally in his arms and he can't lose them, he can't—
“Stay,” he croaks out, begging.

D3rlord3 survives the King in Yellow, but he's forgetting someone important. It doesn't help that the person he's forgetting seems so adamant on staying forgotten.

When Avery respawns after being pushed off the platform, it dawns on him that Derek is going to die, and he can't stand the thought.
However, before he can do anything about it, the minecraft world around him starts eating itself, disappearing into the void.
The next thing he knows, he's landed on the ground in a heap of slime-skined limbs and shining armor, and he can't logout anymore.-
Or, Avery and D3rlord end up getting stuck inside a clean-slate minecraft world together, and they have to figure out what the fuck is going on.
(Slowish burn bc I didn't want to rush it but I promise it's there. There's not a huge amount of plot, but it is there also. Mainly, though, there's comfort. Lots of comfort. I hope you enjoy these cute little beans falling in love <3)

After all, how could anyone expect that to work? The thing already ran like a jet engine when he tried to run shaders. Oh yeah, and not moving for several weeks while living alone usually means your bills aren't paid. So his power is out too. But hey, at least Avery's here now.
