Megumi doesn’t have the strength to say it would be everything. It was the last bit of him given away to a cursed spirit who didn’t—couldn’t—really care for him. Erwin was supposed to shake it, but he took it in his hand instead, and kissed the back of it with the lightest touch. “The pleasure is all mine.”

They don’t talk for the rest of the drive. Satoru is thankful. He's sure Itadori is curious, but Satoru has no answers that are appropriate to tell a near stranger.
Suguru is both nothing and everything to Satoru. There is no part of their relationship that is official, but they've been through so much together that it doesn’t really matter. Suguru isn’t going anywhere and Satoru isn’t either or at least Satoru likes to tell himself that.
Or, in which Satoru has everything he could ask for yet he still wants him, he still wants more.

“What the hell are you talking about?” Shoko’s voice crackles against his ear. “You’ve been planning this for months. Literal months. You’ve wanted this since, like, forever. You’re doing this.”
Suguru doesn’t answer right away. He presses his eyes shut, mouth tight. The pressure in his chest hasn’t let up.
“Shoko,” he says finally. “He saw the ring.”
“So what?” she argues. “That ruins the surprise, sure. But it doesn’t ruin you proposing.”
“No, that’s not it.” His shoulders sink. “Ever since I think he saw it, he’s been all—” He lifts his hand, gesturing vaguely, helplessly. “Quiet.”
And that is an issue. Because Satoru is never quiet. Not like this.
Or, Suguru just wants to propose to Satoru. What can go wrong?

That night Suguru sits on the floor in front of one of the biggest canvases he’s ever worked on. There’s a half empty bottle of red wine at his elbow, a paintbrush held delicately as he paints veins into Satoru’s hands. They’re poised in front of his face, dragging against skin and hovering right before they can sink into the white washes of his hair. Suguru had started the painting as soon as he had walked into his home, dumping the art supplies on tarp and dragging the massive canvas out from under his bed.
