He knew he needed to do something. He couldn't be pulled back into the garden, Cyberlife would know to be faster the second time. Markus was invaluable to the revolution, and Connor was now a threat.
Letting himself kill Markus hurt to think about. He could only think of one permanent solution, it was the fastest, and caused no one any harm - well, almost no one. A sinking sort of sadness clawed into his chest, and heavy resignation along with it.

Summary
[Oneshot, but like two chapters.] The Courier has managed to keep up a delicate balancing act in her pursuit of an independent New Vegas, but with both the Bull and the Bear vying for her allegiance, she can only continue on as is for so long. When she's summoned to walk the Lonesome Road, she hopes to learn who she was before this mess in the hopes the past might provide her with clarity. However, the answers she finds are not what she was expecting. If she didn't learn to let go in the Sierra Madre, she's about to learn it from the last person she'd expect.
Oh, and also, Vulpes Inculta won't leave her the fuck alone. What's up with that? Fucking weirdo.
[Oneshot I wrote to get out of a slump, was meant to be just one chapter but it's split into two due to length.]

He stopped in his footsteps, looking back at her with a pinched expression, his eyes searching her face. Like he couldn’t decide if she was being serious right now, either with her question or the fact that she dared to ask it in the first place.
When he spoke again his voice was lower like he was only directing it at her. Yet it was no less intense, no less piercing. It sent shivers down her spine and not in a pleasant way- more like when she was camping out late at night and heard a deathclaw in the distance. His voice was nothing but a warning of danger.
“Vulpes Inculta. And you’d do best to remember it.”
or, after an attack on the village she's staying in, a young woman named Ena disguises herself as a man to avoid being taken as a slave, only to end up forced to join the Legion. From the get-go, Vulpes is suspicious of her yet doesn't expose her for reasons he's keeping close to his chest. Secrets, spying, and sneaking around ensue.
