Summary
Ilya was, without a doubt, the best thing that had ever happened to Shane. Their first fundraiser for the Irina Foundation was tomorrow, and it was safe to say that Shane was stressed. Rather than share his worries with his boyfriend, Shane distances himself, much to Ilya's dismay. As Shane continues to spiral, Ilya runs out of ideas on how to help. Ilya watched. He knew this routine, Shane had walked him through it at the cottage, though then it had been a special sort of torture. Suffering, trying to match Shane stretch for stretch, instead of appreciating this view.
Now, Ilya had a front row seat, or a back row seat more like, and he was determined not to interrupt. So he waited.

“Yuna,” his dad cuts in, voice quiet, “maybe give him a second, yeah?”
Yeah, Shane agrees in his head. Give him a second.
Maybe give him a decade while they’re at it.
