Summary
He makes sure to learn from the best. The Fire Lord keeps his spine straight and his shoulders back. His head never drops, and his smiles are soft and consistent. He wears the same one when walking the streets of the Fire Days festival as he does when addressing the people from atop the Caldera steps. The same one when rubbing shoulders with his counsel, a glass of sake in hand, as he does when kneeling on eye-level with the child offering him a lily. He speaks with eloquence - every word deliberate and composed.
The mask never drops.
‘Uneasy lies the head,’ decreed the playwrights of old. Zuko thinks it less of an idiom than it is moreso a prophecy.
...
Or; Zuko is the Fire Lord. It's a hard job - not helped by having a counsel made up of war criminals, there being one hundred years worth of propaganda to undo, and especially not helped by the whispers of an uprising that echo throughout the palace halls. But of course, Zuko is doing fine. Just fine.

Summary
“Oh no,” says Aang, in the same tone he tends to reserve for tiny, squishy big-eyed animals. “He’s a baby.”
Zuko glowers, deeply, in a way that Sokka suspects he means to be more threatening than it is. “I am not!”
…Sure, kiddo. Sure.
or: a decade and a half after the war’s end, Fire Lord Zuko gets turned back into a sixteen-year-old, with no memory of anything that’s happened since he and his Uncle arrived as refugees to Ba Sing Se, and a severe lack of trust in anything that moves. Unfortunately for him, the Gaang are determined to re-bond with their de-aged friend, and they refuse to let a feral teenager go un-parented the second time around — no matter how many times he tries to fight them about it.

Summary
A cold rain has been falling for six days. Hakoda's fleet is lost in the fog, running low on supplies, with no word from home. Then, out of the white silence, a Fire Nation warship drifts into view, dead in the water, flying a white flag.
The man who steps onto the deck is General Iroh, the Dragon of the West. He has a deal to offer. And in his hold, a child, burned, feverish, and barely alive.
Hakoda came here to find supplies. He didn't expect to find a boy who needs a father.

Summary
“I can’t stand you,” Zuko says with earnest annoyance.
“I can’t stand you either,” Sokka says. It sounds a whole lot like I love you. “Come on, you poor, sad baby, let’s go to bed.”
Or: Sokka has been running from his broken heart for years, but when his father calls and tells him to come home, he packs his car and starts the long drive across the country to the mess of a life he left behind. The last thing he expects is to break down a day into his impulsive road trip—or for his unexpected savior to be the boy he broke up with in his final year of college.
Zuko is different than Sokka remembers. Quiet and angry and filled with a grief he refuses to talk about. As the two travel back to the place where their story first started, they begin unpacking the wounds they left on each other when they were young. But as their feelings rekindle, they’ll both have to confront the reality of what it means to try again, and whether they’re brave enough to trust each other twice.

Summary
After a life under his father’s thumb, Fire Nation omega Zuko is stripped of his crown prince title and sent South with expectations that far outweigh that of a traditional omegan mate. He is sentenced to live out the rest of his life in Wolf Cove, a Southern city that rivals Agna Qel’a in the North in power, influence, and reputation, as their chief’s new husband.
For the Southern Water Tribe, the marriage is an important step in repairing international alliances after nearly a hundred years of war, a means to an end for a future of peace.
For Fire Lord Ozai, the marriage is an opportunity to have a spy inside the heart of his greatest, and least known, threat.
For Zuko, the marriage is an escape, but he doesn’t know if what awaits him on the other side of the ocean is truly safer than what he’s running from. His father likes to surround himself with powerful alphas with cruel tendencies; why should his new husband be any different?
