Just a two men fake dating their way through a whole lot of angst, what can go wrong.

Stede needs help; the Revenge unfortunately runs into a man Stede had an affair with prior to his pirate days. Stede decides the best way to give him a polite brush-off is to pretend he and Ed are together. Fake relationship to getting together, with smut, passive aggression and a few feelings thrown in for extra fun.

Ed supposes he’s handsome, if you like boring white dudes. He’s tall, slim-built, short dark wavy hair and an at-best medium quality jaw line. Dressed like a prick, he’s wearing all the fancy sort of stuff Stede wears but he’s not pulling it off, in Ed’s opinion. Not enough bright colours, wearing all that silky lacey posh shit but in beige and browns like a coward. Yeah, he’s a coward; Ed’s decided. He guesses maybe his shoulders are okay, if you like skinny guys. Can kinda see why Stede fancied him. If there weren’t a lot of other options around. And if he squints.

It’s a comforting game for them, by now – refined and worked out through millennia. Like a dance, almost. Aziraphale pulls, Crowley pushes. When Crowley pushes, Aziraphale dodges, or pushes back, and Crowley pulls away until he’s called back. It’s like a strange, slow, incredibly fast dance between them – or at least it would be, if Aziraphale spent much time thinking about such things.
After millennia, it came easy, their push and pull – easier, even, when Aziraphale no longer intended to do anything other than pull and pull and pull him closer after the failed Armageddon. It should have worked too – would have, probably, if it weren’t for the fact that Crowley also changed his behaviour.
