He wakes. He wakes to something far worse than a nightmare. He wakes to a voice that rings within his ears every time he takes a whiff of alcohol. He’s heard it every night for years upon years except now it is far worse than a memory. This is reality.
His jaw clenches, the slightest tremble in his hands growing stronger and stronger as the man steps closer.
“Oi,” his tone is different, Javier notes, older, somehow even more irritating and- maybe he really is delusional for thinking this -concerned, “I’m being serious, are you alright?”
He grips his sword.
Maybe this really is an illusion after all.

“Yum!” Lloyd exclaims a bit too loudly- as if to convince himself along with Javier.

“Oh god, this is the end.” Lloyd moans, holding his stomach. “Javier, why didn’t you stop me from eating that food? I can’t shit.” Javier’s eye twitches, but he doesn’t defend himself. It’s almost cathartic to see Lloyd suffering from his irresponsible decision.

Oh, Reigen mused, eyeing the large hands encircling his wrists.
This couldn’t be happening to him. He was losing control of the situation, and it was only now that Reigen realized he couldn’t remember the last time a client had laid their hands on him.
Distantly, in the back of his mind, he knew the reason.
It was all because of Mob, his sweet and kind disciple, who always intervened when Reigen was being threatened. Stepping between anyone or anything, Mob deemed a threat to Reigen.
Reigen had failed to treasure the protection Mob had offered him so selflessly—too caught up in his own schemes or cons to appreciate everything Mob did for him.
He really had taken advantage of Mob’s kindness, hadn’t he?
With Mob chased off by his lies, Reigen stood no chance against the monster he found at his doorstep.

He contemplated taking his phone for a second, giving Mob a quick call.
Soft lips pressed against his own, a plea. "Shishou" he had said.
The memory startled him, and he turned around to look at the girl instead. It seemed she wasn’t paying attention- in fact, she was still standing at the entrance, looking around the office with what could only be described as awe.
“It’s so… different,” She said, quiet enough that Reigen had the feeling he wasn’t supposed to hear that.

Mikey has always felt an urgency to protect Takemichi, although, for the most part, he could ignore it. He intervened whenever necessary, of course, but he never took things too far, no matter how much he wanted to.
Witnessing Takemichi with a gun pressed to his forehead had completely destroyed any semblance of resolve Mikey had, causing him to kill Kisaki to keep Takemichi safe. He can't stand the thought of ever losing Takemichi, and now he's willing to do whatever it takes to make sure no harm ever comes to him again.
“None of what happened to me is your fault—”
“Shut the fuck up,” Mikey interrupts, his hand slamming against the bed by Takemichi's head, “You could have died, for fucks sake. Do you understand that, Takemichi? Cause I don’t think you do. You asked him to shoot you! Fuck, how dumb can you be?”
