“Anything?” Charles whispered after a moment, as he seemed to realize that this wasn’t just an average conversation between the two of them. Something about it almost made Erik uneasy but he started it and he fully intended to carry it through, no matter what.
A small, almost uncomfortable laugh left him, “I was going to say I would kill for you, but I think we both already know that,” He admitted, quietly. He took a deep breath before adding, “I think I’m in too deep, sometimes. I’ve realized that, for you, I’d even give up killing.”

Erik is a firm believer in the fact that children deserve to know and be loved by both of their parents, even if one of those parents has a criminal record. The court needs proof Erik can be decent enough of a father morally and financially, though, and Erik knows he has changes and improvements to make.
Part of that means he should search for an extra job in order to afford a better apartment and keep his car. To his surprise, a job has apparently already found him, and it’s not one he can refuse.
The Child Protective Services worker on Erik’s visitation rights case seems optimistic, but Erik himself isn’t so sure now.

Charles Xavier is a telepath, and trusting a telepath was considered stupid, even in his own opinion. It was understandable; people were just afraid of their secrets getting revealed, he couldn't blame them if they didn't like him. He didn't want to make anybody more uncomfortable than they already were with a telepath near them. Suppressing his power may be a little hard, and may cause him to be just a bit tired, but hey, he's doing it for everyone around him and himself. After all, if he doesn't get into their minds and remind them who are they dealing with, maybe they'll forget. And nobody will leave him out of fear and distrust. He totally wasn't afraid this will happen one day.
Charles Xavier is a telepath, and he wishes his power was easier to control, hide and ignore. He's a telepath, and he wishes it didn't affect him as much as it does.
