Summary
Here's an question for you all;
What if DJ was old enough to remember living in the Troll Trees? What if she knew Branch growing up before he turned grey? What if she and Branch...were friends?
This is the Strange Friendship AU, a retelling of the Trolls franchise using personal ideas and headcanons from myself and a number of other writers. A few things to note is;
- DJ plays a far larger role here with ties to Reggaeton, Techno and Funk thorugh her ancestry and brother Cooper. She is present in both World Tour and Band Together, playing much larger roles than in canon.
- There'll be a few ships throughout the series. Primarily is Branch/Poppy. The secondary ship will be DJ/Trollex along with others.
- DJ Suki and Branch are friends here (Even though Branch will deny it at first). They knew each other before the Great Escape
- Clay and Floyd stayed after BroZone split but Clay got separated from Branch and Floyd during the escape.
- Character development is actually a thing here.- Words:

"Okay, okay, enough!" Trollex hugged Beat a little tighter, wondering if his despair was evident in his expression. "You're harshing the vibe we worked very hard to build to!" The startled screams of the Techno Trolls behind him echoed in his ears.
Barb stared at him, a blank look in her eyes for a moment as she processed the words he'd just spoken. Then she laughed.
"Oh, but by the end of my World Tour, we're all gonna have the same vibe," Barb drawled, and Trollex couldn't tell if she was mocking him. "We're all gonna be one nation of trolls..." she raised her strumming hand and grinned. "Under Rock!"

Trollzart is a bit less than thrilled to be forcefully taken on Barb’s World Tour, in fact he’s completely heartbroken by the destruction of his land, the entrapment of his people, and the taking of his string. At least the techno troll he’s “rooming” with is very nice.
