Summary
Damian startled, leaping nearly an inch into the air, and lost his footing.
The gun had fired, five shots ringing out. He hadn’t expected it to but it had. The bullets soared from their barrel and embedded themselves into his spine. Blood poured from the site as all feeling below his waist was severed and he crumbled.
His heel landed in the air instead of on the stone floor of the cave and he went stumbling forward into the open space below him.

Dick flicked on the blinker, turning onto the bridge that would take them over a small inlet of the harbor and to the ice cream shop. The store was closer to the manor and therefore further from the penthouse, but it was one that he had enjoyed as a child. The drive was minimal if it meant a moment of sweet nostalgia- even if the surrounding sites were in need of some serious TLC.

He is aware that people move through life by prioritizing what is most important to them, directing their time and energy into what is most beloved, after all, he often does the same. But Damian also knows he needs to accept that he will never be anyone's priority. A task he is quickly finding is easier said than done, because it is love and acceptance that is the most foreign to him.

"I apologize," Damian spat, somehow making it sound like an insult.
"It's ok, little buddy," Steph chirped.
"I am not your---"
"Yup. My little buddy, that's what you are. My littlest buddy," She cooed.
Frankly, Dick was confounded by her limitless audacity.
Or: 5 times Stephanie made her affection for Damian known in her own way + 1 time he returned the favor.

Damian Wayne is not the scientist of the family, so it really doesn't make sense that he would be the one to figure out how to travel through time and space to some different set of hero headquarters. It does make sense that they would have quite a few questions for the highly trained child that showed up from a different universe, but Damian isn't going to give up information without collateral. You've seen Peter Parker in Gotham, get ready for Damian Wayne in Avengers Tower. No one is getting out of this without a headache.
“Whoa there buddy, you okay?”
That was not his father’s voice.
And yes, father had a habit of collecting children like a squirrel before winter but that voice did not belong in the cave.
Likely because, Damian realized, he was no longer in the Batcave.
The room around him was definitely a lab, and a nice one, but it wasn’t Drake’s. There were far too many windows, not enough coffee cups, and way, way too many robots. There was also a man standing in front of him in a lab coat. How cliche.
Damian pulled himself up to his full height and gave the peasant his best ‘you are beneath me’ scowl. “That’s none of your concern.”

“So is everyone here, you’re not special!” Drake rolled his eyes.
“I’m not.”
As soon as he said it, he regretted it. So far, he’d been an observer, holding himself to a higher standard rather than deigning to join the scrum, not even saying a word. But now… All eyes were on Damian.
