“Straight from that shop you like,” he says gently, placing the box down on her lap so she can quickly untie the ribbon and pull it open. Within, fresh slices of Rivaini and Antivan fruits drizzled with hardened chocolate neatly arranged in a beautiful spiral greet her. She squeals and reaches immediately for one of the thick chunks of mango, popping it into her mouth with a dreamy moan. It’s tart and sweet and juice drips from her lips and her fingers as she chews and swallows down the delectable treat. She sucks the sugar from her fingers and reaches for another piece, this time a thick strawberry dipped in what looks like dark Antivan chocolate.
“How did you–”
“I know you, my darling. And,” he smiles, blue eyes soft with unconcealed affection– there is no need to hide it here when it is just the two of them. “I need no excuse to spoil my wife.” His fingers linger on her belly as she happily gorges herself on the fresh fruit he has spent a small fortune on.
