“What?” Benson mumbled, still smirking.
The kid didn’t answer. Just kept smiling, gentle and calm. He closed the distance between them, fingers brushing Benson’s chest like he was memorizing the shape of him.
Benson tilted his head slightly, eyes half-lidded, expecting a kiss. That would’ve made sense. That would’ve been the story. Instead, the kid leaned in too far, breath fanning over Benson’s jaw, then his neck. And then—
A sharp, wet pain, sudden and deep.
Benson jerked. It was instinct, primal, but the kid was already wrapped around him, stronger than he should’ve been. His arms weren’t gentle now. They were holding Benson in place, pressing him back against the brick wall. Something pierced deep into his neck, and the warmth that flooded out wasn’t lust. It was blood.

He’d wanted to from day one, when Randy walked in for his first day with his work uniform pressed and his shirt tucked in, not yet jaded by the mental-emotional exhaustion of working in the service industry. The younger man’s nervous, rosy smile and ocean eyes and long neck had made his knees weak from the moment Hardy had shoved the new hire toward him, telling Benson to start training him on the register before going back to his office and pulling the flimsy door shut behind himself.
