Martin od pół godziny co chwilę zerka w kierunku drzwi, marszcząc brwi jakby targał nim jakiś wewnętrzny konflikt. Na zewnątrz jest już dość ciemno, więc Jon zgaduje, że może martwić się o to, czy bezpiecznie byłoby wyjść się przejść o tej porze.
– Chciałbyś się przewietrzyć? – sugeruje.
Wzrok Martina przeskakuje na niego z zaskoczeniem, najwyraźniej nie spodziewał się, że Jon poruszy temat. Mimo to odpowiada twierdzącym mruknięciem.
– Pewnie mógłbym poczekać do rana, ale chyba nie uda mi się dzisiaj zasnąć, jeśli nie pójdę teraz.

Martin idzie na wieczorny spacer, na którym spotyka bardzo wyjątkowego cielaka i dotrzymuje mu towarzystwa, opłakując jego nieunikniony los. W domu opiekuje się nim Jon, który nie może znieść widoku jego nieszczęścia i braku kogoś, kto mógłby go pocieszyć. Jest i smutno, i fluffy, jak to bywa w przypadku tej dwójki.

Summary
Ghost didn’t know who he was outside of being a soldier. He hadn’t lived a civilian life for any significant amount of time since he’d first enlisted. He was a soldier through and through, and he thought he’d never have to face any other reality than the one he knew in service. It was natural to think that he’d die in the field, at the hand of an enemy or a traitor whom he thought to be an ally. Either way, he’d never imagined himself living past what he’d been up until that point. With that in mind, learning how to function outside of the military sounded like a Herculean effort in and of itself.
I.e. an extremely self-indulgent fic that's being written for the sole purpose of letting Ghost and Soap be happy for once. They'll bond over military memories and tattoos, fall in love and it's going to be all fluff and spice after that. And in the process, Ghost will learn how to enjoy life with the help of his favourite Scotsman, who's considerably more well-adjusted to retirement than he is.

Summary
Martin’s been glancing at the door every now and again for the past half an hour, looking conflicted about something. It's already quite dark outside, so Jon guesses he might be concerned about the safety of leaving at this time.
“Need some fresh air?" he prompts.
Martin's eyes snap towards him, he must not have been expecting Jon to say anything about it. Regardless, he hums an agreement. “It could wait until morning, I guess, but I imagine I’ll be all fidgety the whole night if I don’t go.”Or
Martin goes on an evening walk where he meets a very special little cow and keeps it company for a while while mourning its inevitable fate. Back at home, he's looked after by Jon, who can't bear to see him unhappy and with no one to comfort him. It's sad and it's fluffy, as Jon and Martin tend to be.Inspired by the poem "Two-Headed Calf" by Laura Gilpin.
