It had always been Yuqi and Minnie. Despite the two year age gap that felt like an unbridgeable chasm at the age of eight (ten in Minnie's case), they were always joined at the hip. Then Cho Miyeon came along, and Yuqi did have a bit of trouble warming up to her at first, but nothing she couldn’t manage. A while later, Minnie and Miyeon move away to another city to go to college, which obviously wrecks Yuqi. But it's okay because now, after two years, Yuqi has gotten into the same college and their house is just thirty minutes away from the dorms. And that's the thing—despite different academic years, different friend circles, different distractions (pretty girls in Yuqi’s case, mildly off putting boyfriends in Minnie and Miyeon’s cases), they always came back to each other. After all, the three of them are best friends, each other’s trusted confidantes, platonic soulmates, even.
Then Minnie and Miyeon start dating each other.

Miyeon pouts and stops talking, clutching her expensive purse and looking at it with a sense of guilt. Soyeon reaches over the table and gives her a light push to her shoulder. "It's fine, Myeon." She grins, "I'm sure your boyfriend named Minnie can handle your expensive tastes just fine."
