Summary
While Jack is now God, revamping Heaven for the human souls under his care, Cas has become the new ruler and embodiment of the Empty. He is content with this fate until Jack brings upsetting news: Dean has passed away unexpectedly.
And Dean is not finding peace, not even in Jack’s improved afterlife.
Instead, Dean has discovered a way to traverse the Axis Mundi to visit other universes, alternative Earths, and has been meddling in their fates. Dean tells Jack that it’s because he’s looking for his “family,” but Jack feels he’s really just looking for one individual: Castiel.
Castiel must confront Dean and the consequences of his confession, or else Jack may need to take corrective actions. But will their reunion be enough to bring Dean peace? Or is there still some greater destiny the hunter must fulfill, even in death…
Or perhaps, through death itself.

It only makes sense that Claire goes with her. Of course, they’ll find Dean and Cas right away, and certainly won’t be driving for months on end, with only each other and the road for company.

Summary
“I learned my lesson while I was away, Dean,” Cas says. “I serve heaven, I don’t serve man, and I certainly don’t serve you.” He rotates, freeing his sleeve from Dean’s hand, and walks away.
Dean stares after him. Sam, somewhere behind him, says nothing.
The silence breaks with a baby’s wail, and Dean whirls around, eyes finding the baby, still in her carseat, a pair of dead demons next to her, including the one that had been inside the baby’s mother.

But the thing is, as he gets closer, he has to blink his eyes to make sure he’s seeing things right. Because that’s definitely Jimmy’s body slumped over against the trunk of one of the apple trees, but floating above him is- well, it’s a floating light, a sphere with a one-foot diameter, just hanging out at Dean’s chest level. Dean approaches it carefully with a furrowed brow and half-raised hackles.
“Cas?” Dean prompts slowly. “Is that-”
And the orb is glowing out sweet and white like it could easily be used to keep away the dark in a child’s nursery. It’s so welcoming. Like Dean could just reach out, out, and catch that gentleness in his hands without any sort of consequence.
“Hello, Dean,” the orb hums.

“So what’s up with- Dude, again?” Sam’s voice rings through the room incredulously.
Dean grunts in response.
“You can’t possibly still be tired. Like, I feel like this should be physically impossible.”
“Tell that to my melatonin levels.”
“How do you know what melatonin is?”
Dean does his best to roll his eyes under the cover of his eyelids. “Jesus, Sam, I’m not an idiot. Will you shut up so I can sleep?”
He hears Sam huff. “Ya know, if you wanted to nap, you could always use that thing you have called a bed.”
“Not the same,” Dean grumbles. His body doesn’t get all loose when he’s laying in his bed watching horror movies. The synapses that slow their firing contentedly seem to be wired to that same invisible bodily response of the outside world, and apparently being in the openness of his family’s space turns his brain into mush. “Now unless someone’s dying, I’m beggin’ you to shut up.”

The more things Shouta noticed, the more his theory of a child-soldier organization gained strength.
He was an energetic child — youthful, he had preened unprompted. A bright kid that strongly reminded him of Hizashi in his younger days, and Shouta was honestly surprised Hitoshi could not only stand that level of energy every day, but actually sought it out.
He was a normal, playful child… except for the fact that, just like Hitoshi, the first thing he did upon entering was identify all entrances, gaze lingering a second too long over the kitchen’s cutlery.
