    There were hands on him.

    Someone was pressing their hand against his chest, before pressing against his neck. Oh they were checking if he was alive, looking for a pulse he assumed. At least he hoped. Seemingly confirming that he was alive, he felt the hands readjust him, before wrapping underneath his arms to lift. He felt his body start to drag against the floor.

    Simon is used to violence. He was used to following orders without question. Believing in the cause.

    What he wasn't use to was a literal angel breaking down his walls one gentle touch at a time.

    Ryland Grace has officially lived on Erid for one whole year. Everything's set up to his liking. He has food, a lab, and his best friend who visits him on the daily.
    Sure, he's the only human person here. But given his background, he doesn't mind suffering from touch-deprivation. He's safe right where he is.
    Well, not for long. Now, there's a new guy. Who's pragmatic and flat when it comes to any form of expression.
    That's fine! Grace can deal with that. He has no worries...
    And why does Rocky keep trying to push the idea of them dating.

    "Colt! I need you! Don't let - no, no, don't let them take me!"

    Colt has been thrown off buildings, has been set on fire, even had to pretend to be bitten by a dog. Colt hasn't been this afraid since his dad was alive. Despite his hand shaking, threatening to drop his phone, Colt kept a firm grip to listen to the rest of the voicemail.

    "Colt! No!” Suddenly, Colt heard grunts and it sounded like the phone had fallen.

    “Don't do it, don't, don't - Colt!”

     

    Ryland Grace was gone. Not dead, at least not for a while. He wasn't missing. He's just gone. Simply disappeared from the Earth, leaving behind a huge family that simply can't shake the grief of their missing family member. Ryland Grace was in space, unable to remember his family. His family was on Earth, unable to forget him. As Earth descends into an frozen apocalypse loaded with political anarchy, hunger and death, they all struggle to fill the gap he left behind.

    Or: what happens on Earth after Grace is taken on the Hail Mary. Including several other characters' POVs, such as Eva Stratt, Carl, Grace's students and others.
