There are a lot more gay Mormons than you would think.
On the marble sign declaring “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints” is a footnote burning in fine print. Sharpie marker subscript right under the hyphen, rebelling against everything that had ever been inscribed, imprinted, indoctrinated into Hyunjin, for the better or worse part of his life:
“THE HOLY GHOST MAKES MY DICK HARD”
It's so stupid, it's something he did as a dumb teen to impress whoever was his crush at the time. But now here he is, a dumb twenty-year-old adult child with his current crush, someone he'd met not even a month ago. He shows his work to Felix, whose subsequent laughter and blooming freckles build the foundation of his new religion.

This was poignant and bittersweet and so, so beautiful. There were so many layers to this, between the religious theme and the complex characters and Hyunjin's and Felix's relationship. Everything just felt so real. That's the best way I can say it.
