“T-Take your damn pictures, then,” she snapped. Her response lacked force, her tone suddenly high-pitched.
Caitlyn raised an eyebrow, unimpressed. She shook her head disapprovingly and reached for Vi's pants. She pulled them down until they were just below Vi's thighs, which was worse than if she had pulled them all the way down. The stain on the boxers was obvious.
“Oh?” Caitlyn scoffed, bringing a finger to that spot. She traced Vi's shape across the damp fabric. “A lot of bravado for someone in this state.”

“Hi,” Caitlyn says. “It’s sorted.”
A pained wince flashes across Vi’s face but she nods, scraping a bloody-knuckled hand over her face and sniffing hard once. She spits out a gob of red-streaked mucus and speaks down at the spot where it lands between her feet. “Thanks.”
“Can I take you home?” Caitlyn asks.
Shame rises off Vi like hot steam. She hunches in on herself again, runs a hand through her hair, still refusing to look up at Caitlyn. When she speaks, her voice is tight with strain. “You've already done a lot, Cait. I can have Powder—”
“Vi,” Caitlyn cuts her off. “You can tell me no, if you don’t want me to take you. I can go back to my flat and leave you with your brother and sister. But I am asking you — can I take you home?”

Lara looks so lost, so miserable that Sam can’t stop the next stupid thing that slips out of her mouth. “I mean, it’s hard enough to get over you without you reminding me you’ve got, like, a legitimate twelve-pack.”
And Lara’s laughter, so bright and startling, draws echoing giggles from Sam, deflates the suffocating tension that had been building between them for months. Sam gives in, lets herself sink forward to rest against Lara’s body for just a moment.

She had barely finished speaking when Caitlyn’s office door opened again. Sevika glanced towards it, and Caitlyn saw the way her face immediately twisted into a scowl when she recognized the intruder.

“Oh,” Jinx says knowingly, glancing Vi’s way out of the corner of her eye. “That’s the, uh, the cop girl, right? Maddie’s ex?”
A chorus of mutters and nods is the response.
“I’m being warned about her,” Vi tells her sister and Jinx blows her bangs out of her face.
“Good,” she says, almost snappishly. “Yeah, don’t date cop girl. You should date someone cool.”
“I’m not going to date anyone, not for a while. I need to get back on my feet first,” says Vi, drumming her fingers against the condensation of the glass. Thinking of Cupcake in her contacts, and that teasing smile.
Everything in Vi’s life right now is starting over. She’s spending the holidays on her sister’s pull-out futon, trying to make sense of the avalanche of changes, salvage what’s left of her family and figure out what she’s going to do next. The last thing she expects to do is include the beautiful woman she runs into on her first day in town, or this Caitlyn that everyone’s warning her to stay away from.

Summary
The first thing that Vi notices about the room is how much much light there is in it. The Kiramman estate had been dark, curtains drawn, lush velvet, heavy fabrics. The very air would sit still, curled up like a cat content with the knowledge that she’d be fed at the end of the day. These windows only have the lightest lace curtains, no glass and in the dry desert wind they sway in the breeze.
There isn’t much in this room, no journals, no papers. The only thing that tells Vi that Mel’s intel hadn’t been wrong is the rifle that sits on a bespoke stand, the red and black clashing horribly with the blue and gold.
Vi goes to Noxus to find Caitlyn.

“Change of plans,” Vi echoes, a beat too late to be casual, judging by the twist of Caitlyn’s lips, the unimpressed arch of her brow. Vi shifts again, plucking the hem of her shirt between two fingers and shaking it out to cool herself off. She needs to wipe that smug, knowing look of Caitlyn’s face — give as good as she gets. Or at least make an effort. Vi puts a bit of lazy confidence in her own voice, leaning back and stretching in a way she knows will make her loose cut-up muscle shirt ride up her abs, subtly flexing her arms as she raises them over her head to emphasize their bulk and definition. “Something wrong? Or did you just miss me too much to wait a few more hours?”
