Summary
“Did you have a daughter?” Clarice asks, hesitant.
Dr. Lecter’s eyes crinkle as he smiles, oddly pleased, but also a little sad. “No. But I had a sister.”
Hannibal is fond of Clarice Graham from the moment he meets her. So fond of her, in fact, that it makes him consider the merits of fatherhood for the first time, and decide that he wants to be a parent.
In order to keep her in his life, he decides to seduce her father, an abrasive FBI profiler who, while he isn't quite Hannibal's type, is someone Hannibal thinks he could eventually come to tolerate. And if he doesn't, well, then all he'll have to do is be patient, and eventually he'll be the one to whom custody would fall if something unfortunate should happen.
