    Summary

He stood out to Flux because he looked gentle.

A perpetually serene look that clashed heavily with his Luminaran armor and diamond sword. Matched with snowy white hair, pale skin, and warm grey eyes. He looked more like an angel than a soldier.

Flux sometimes felt his eyes wander to that guard on their breaks. Watching him explore their nest of tunnels, watching him kindly unwrap lunch packs for older miners like he was Mother-fucking Teresa.

“You’re staring.” Thomas points out to Flux.

    “Am not!”

The events of Ish's Rich vs. Poor Civilization, through Flux's eyes: starting from the Fall of Aculon.

    Summary

Sometimes, when Saps comes home late, or when he gets in a rough situation with a soldier, he thinks something changes in Flux. He’s known Flux since they were young, both of them having grown up in the districts together, and the other man has always been like this— distrustful of the government, protective of Saps, always fussing over him for one reason or another— but it gets worse when he thinks Saps might be in danger.

Saparata and Fluixon's nightly routine, through the eyes of a tad-too-perceptive Saps.

“You’d be so easy,” he murmurs again, lower now. Like a secret. Like something filthy. “So fucking tender.”

Still, she doesn’t move. Doesn’t flinch.

So he leans in, closer, voice curling against her ear like smoke.

“I’d start with the belly,” he tells her, soft. “Right here.” His hand presses flat just beneath her navel. “Slit you open down the middle. Careful. Delicate. Like peeling back fruit. I wouldn’t want to lose anything important.”

    He inhales—shuddering.

His fingers drift slowly up her ribs, tracing each one like a ribcage he’s already cracked. “Then I’d break you open. Hook under the breastbone, snap the ribs wide. Hang you up like meat in the basement while the blood drains.”

    His grin sharpens.

Not cruel—fond. Almost sweet, in the way a butcher loves the first good cut of the season.

    “I expected you to leave.”

Nightmare’s voice was hushed, a fray of linen pulled to his chest, brow creased like he regretted saying it aloud. Silly thing. So modest—so soft, after everything. As if he hadn’t already been looked at like something divine, devoured like something holy.

He had no idea how charming that was—how easily every little tic endeared him. The way his tendrils swayed when he was pleased, curling in lazy, unconscious affection. The slight lilt of his grin when cruelty took him. The reverence in the way he handled his books, like he’d die before dog-earing a page. The way he ruled his little ants like a god with dirty hands.

The two have always been drawn to each other, especially to the very manifestation of each others' existence. Dream wishes to adore his twin's soul, the dark rich apple that held so much negativity within its flesh, and he wants nothing more than to taste the sweet nectar of his other half.

Dream watched Nightmare at his desk, the scratch of a quill cutting through the quiet. There was no tension here. No fear. The press of negativity no longer suffocated him—it clung like a blanket. Heavy. Familiar. Comforting.

With each stroke of ink laid to parchment, Dream felt himself softening further—unraveling quietly.

He wondered, in a quiet corner of his mind, whether the golden apple lodged behind his sternum had started to bruise—skin giving way, sweet flesh turning dark, rotting slowly in the hush of this sweet corruption.

The thought rose like mist and drifted away. He realized, almost idly, that he didn’t care.

A tendril drags up his cheek.

It’s cold. Dream leans into it greedily, breath hitching. The contrast is overwhelming—blissful in its simplicity. He whines, quiet and wrecked.

“Nighty…” His voice wavers like it might shatter. His eyes sting. His SOUL pulses hard enough to make his spine curl.

“You’re lucky,” Nightmare murmurs, almost fond. “You’re too pathetic to kill like this.”

    Summary

    Nightmare is unraveling.

He doesn’t know what’s wrong with him. The touch of his lovers makes his teeth itch. Their kindness makes him want to scream. Something inside him is festering, tender as a bruise and twice as sweet. Suffering calls to him. Misery clings to the air like perfume, and it leaves him wanting. That alone is enough to terrify him.

And when he finally snaps—tendril tight around Killer’s throat, spine nearly breaking beneath his grip—he likes it.

His curse runs deeper than he knows, rooted in his marrow, coiled tight around his soul. It feeds on his empathy, twisting it until pain tastes sweet and suffering makes his mouth water. He retreats. He lies. But it doesn’t stop.

It’s up to his lovers to drag him from the dark, and feed the thing that’s driving him mad.

    Summary

Horror has never truly escaped his past - only learned to survive its echoes. Once, his body was a symbol of strength, but under Tempo’s rule, it was reduced to an object to be shaped, controlled, and starved into compliance. Deprived of nourishment to maintain a form deemed pleasing, his relationship with hunger became one of fear, punishment, and control.

Now in the prince’s castle, with every meal set before him, the memories creep in, and Horror cannot allow himself the indulgence of nourishment without the fear that he is becoming weak, that he will be worthless if he is not strong enough to protect his lovers. And so, he starves.

For days, Horror quietly withdraws from meals, refusing to eat, his body slowly betraying him. The weakness sets in until, at last, he breaks. One night, desperation overtakes him, and he consumes everything in sight. His loss of control does not go unnoticed.

When Dust finds Horror, he does not hesitate. He stays.

That night, Dust gives Horror the one thing he cannot give himself - gentleness. Through intimacy, Dust reminds Horror of something he has long forgotten: that his body is not a thing to be controlled, punished, or feared. It is his.

“He’s so cute like this,” Killer went on, voice syrup-slow and cruelly fond. “Sleeping so soundly… kneading into your chest like a kitten. While you grind into him like you can’t help yourself.”

Cross’s breath hitched—sharp and sudden, like it had been punched out of him.

There were no words that would come. No defense. It was wrong—the suggestion, the truth of it—but his body betrayed him with every shallow breath, every pulse of heat rolling off his core.

His eyelights were glassy, unfocused pinpricks of light floating within cavernous sockets. Fever radiated from him in waves, his bones glinting with the faint sheen of rising heat. Each shallow breath shuddered through his frame, erratic and unsteady, as though even the act of existing had become a battle.

The signs were unmistakable. Fevered. Overcome to the point of delirium. Every shiver, every labored breath, spoke of a body caught in the throes of a Heat so consuming that control had become a distant, unreachable goal.

For most monsters, this would have been ordinary—expected, even. An inconvenience of biology that, while inconvenient, was hardly unusual.

    But this was Cross.

And therein lay the anomaly that hung in the air, thick and accusatory, like a question that demanded an answer.

"How curious," Nightmare murmured, his voice slipping into the room like a serpent through grass, low and smooth, almost inviting. His gaze never wavered, sharp and calculating as it swept over the trembling figure before him. "And here I thought you didn’t suffer Heats."
