It is the first time the Four Hunters have had mattresses and sheets and blankets since Lórien, and even longer since they had such a thing of Man-make - threadbare enough for one such as Boromir to feel at home.
Evidently, he does feel at home. When Aragorn comes to their room, in the middle of putting his pipe out, he finds Boromir collapsed face-down onto the bed with all his clothes on. He hasn’t even bothered to remove his boots.

"Joining as two ropes, like a braid," Elrond corrects. "Joining in a way that strengthens. That was its purpose -- to tie the house of the king to the house of his steward, and strengthen both offices by the connection."
It is an ancient law, that the king of Gondor must marry a member of the steward's house. If Aragorn is lucky, maybe it will turn out to be so ancient that everyone's forgotten about it...

“I’m up, m’up,” Jayce said when he felt Viktor’s presence hovering over him on the couch, trying his hardest to open his eyes. Or he thought he said that. Judging by the quiet huff of amusement Viktor let out, it had probably come out in a garbled mess.
“It’s quite alright,” Viktor murmured softly, and then Jayce felt the weight of something, a blanket, being drape over him. Warm and soft. “You can sleep here, if you want.”
Jayce felt, absurdly, almost embarrassingly emotional. Tears prickled at the corners of his eyes. Gratitude lodged like something fragile in his chest. He managed to open his eyes long enough to choke out. “Thank you.”
