Eddie could’ve told him around Tinder, about how those interesting, handsome guys couldn’t hold a candle to Buck, but he didn’t argue. Instead, he took a slow, deliberate look around the crowded cafe, then turned back to Buck. “Okay. Done.”
Buck frowned, his brow furrowing in confusion. “What?”
“I looked around. I’m done.”
“Eddie, I’m serious. You don’t—”
Eddie cut him off softly. “Buck, I’ve been loving you for years. I didn’t just wake up and decide I like men in the abstract. I realised I love you. I’m not suddenly gonna fall in love with some random dude at a club just because I’ve realised I’m allowed to like men.”
Eddie didn't care about being the first or last. He chose joy.

He didn't say yes, but he didn't have to; the way his gaze lingered on Eddie’s mouth told the whole story. It was a silent challenge, an invitation to prove he wasn't just talk.

Tommy tells Buck that he isn’t ready and Buck takes it as a challenge.
There is a gay club on the way from Maddie’s to Buck’s and Buck can’t stop his eyes from sticking to the turned-off neon sign as he drives past it - it’s not the first time, he realizes at the same time the car behind him honks. He speeds the rest of the way home but without conscious thought the club’s instagram page ends up on his screen by the end of the night.
It takes a week until he ends up going there though, and his heart pounds with the beat of the music blasting from the speakers. He slides up to the bar with all the confidence he can muster and orders two tequila shots, and then a beer as if that will make it any less obvious that he feels like an imposter standing here.
