“It’s cold out.”
Eunyung’s feet were crossed by the ankles, steady on the surface beneath him. He had his forearms folded over the rooftop’s railing, a burning cigarette pinched between his index and thumb as if it belonged there. It doesn’t. Not really—not when he hated the scent, the stain of orangey-brown at his second knuckles.
But it just feels so natural now, doesn’t it? He couldn’t find it in himself to change his nature.
Nor could he find it in himself to glance backward as the metal door Haejoon entered groaned shut.

He's not so lucky. He’s always known optimism is a scam.
For a while it seems like it really could have been a one-off. Long enough that Andrew starts letting Neil in his bed some of the time, and the times he doesn’t it’s for different reasons. It starts to seem like he can put it behind him, in his less than ideal but not fully traumatic memories bank.
It happens again. And again.
