Shane has Norovirus. It’s the only reason he can think of that would have him how he is now. That is to say, kneeling on his parents’ bathroom floor with his head in the toilet, gagging and retching up whatever is left from his dinner the night before.
It has to be Norovirus, that’s the only thing that has ever made Shane this sick in his entire life. Flus don’t touch him. Not even the super bug ones that Hayden’s kids seem to get every single year. And Shane has been traveling a lot, roadtrip after roadtrip even despite how early in the season it is, he’s been in more airports than he can count and too many buses to even try.

After Shane Hollander suffered a career ending injury in 2013, he had no idea what he wanted to do with his life. It wasn’t until 2018, when he connected with a surrogacy agency, that he finally felt like he could do something that would give him meaning and purpose once again.
Oh, and by the way, his relationship with Ilya Rozanov also ended in 2013. That was because he fucking hated him.
Oh, and by the way, It just so happens that Ilya, planning ahead for his unexpectedly early retirement, is looking for a surrogate to have his baby.
A.K.A: the fic where Shane and Ilya never officially got together because they’re idiots, and now Shane has to decide whether or not he’s willing to carry a baby for a man he can’t stand.
