catra slips herself into the water with no small amount of effort. her entire body locks up once her torso hits the surface. something deep and broken inside of her insists that she’s going to drown, or that she’s back in prime’s pool again, sinking deeper and deeper into the hazy green.
still, the water is hot. what passed for water on prime’s ship wasn’t hot; it was thick and lukewarm and oily, and smelled like burning tar. still, she can work her fingers through the fur matted with blood on her side and try to get the worst out. still, the springs are far enough away from her camp that she doesn’t feel bad about relaxing here, even if there’s a pretty good likelihood that she’s going to die of blood loss in the water.
fuck, she wishes the horde’s training had been a little more concerned with preventing children from dying.
or, catra tries to conceal some pretty life-threatening injuries and fails miserably. written for etherealshay for the seasons skirmish event!

Summary
Adora was over it. She had grown tired of years of back and forth, back and forth. Her sword was drawn; Catra’s sharp claws were out, ready to pierce the heroine’s skin. Adora tried to wipe her mind of Catra and every worry she brought. It was futile, her presence was ingrained into her mind. One she wanted gone and found, one she couldn't seem to let go.
Catra couldn't get enough. One look into Adora's eyes and she spiraled, falling apart at the seams. Her brain muddled, her breath long gone as the realization dawned upon her, in all of its glory and to Catra’s horror, she had only one thought.
If Adora wouldn’t love her then hate was the next best thing.
