He starts to sob, his fists filling themselves with my coat. It’s easy to hold him up, I hold him tighter, his soul pushes into Grace like a cat tucks itself in a too-small box, and I hold it. His cries are quiet in my ear, like a child. I can feel the painful tension releasing itself from Dean’s muscles, it all comes to me and I hold it. I pull the back of his neck to rest on my shoulder and keep my arm steady across his waist. His tears are thick and hot. I sew together the skin on his arms. I kiss the side of his head, I stroke the fluttery creature wrapped inside me. It wails and wails.

Day 17, He won't talk about Gordon, we don't often prompt him to, it feels wrong. Too intimate of an area to poke (they only knew one another for what, 6, 7 months? It seems strange, but they were connected one way or another). We all miss him, those of us who knew him. I want to tell Warren that, but I fear it would only make things worse. He asked once, if Gordon really was shot, he asked me to answer truthfully. I answered bluntly and with only facts. He was shot, he was given the serum exposed to external bacteria and all we can do is wait for the right moment to wake him up. He was silent for two days after that, besides the night terrors which wake him with wails and screams.
