It was a bit of a laugh in the beginning, but he knows his only way out of it is a witch who'd possibly rather gut him than help him. However, the tales coming out after the battle of Sodden Hill have him thinking she might have learnt a little sympathy for the common man since last he saw her. And besides, she might not even recognise him anymore.

"What are you doing here, Jaskier?" Geralt watches as he brushes past, not quite close enough that Geralt has to lean away to avoid contact, and hovers opposite the fire.
Jaskier crosses his arms over his chest and gives Geralt a wicked grin. "Well, would you believe it, Geralt? I'm here to kill a monster."
Geralt gives a half-hearted glare to the sardonic response and tries to ignore the itch in his fingers to reach for a blade, his sword currently resting mere inches from him.
"No, what are you doing here?" In this wood, in this clearing.
Jaskier's smirk turns sharp, lips curling away from sharp teeth, and golden eyes glinting in the low light. "I should have thought that was obvious."

Summary
The kid that Vesemir has come up with has Geralt's back up from the get-go. He's walking around their garage-cum-recording-studio as if he owns the place, appraising their assortment of instruments as though they're items at auction.
Vesemir has told them all exactly nothing about this "Jaskier", and from first appearances, he doesn't look much the part. More dressed more for crooning away in some café to Fleetwood Mac or The Beatles, or for a trip down Old Compton Street, Geralt's first impression does not inspire confidence.
