Summary
“Nick.” Vash releases Wolfwood’s hand in order to cup the side of his face. Wolfwood shuts his eyes, turning his head just enough to press his lips to Vash’s palm in a soundless kiss. When he opens them again, the blood is gone, and Vash is warm beneath his hand. He meets his eyes and they’re so impossibly kind that Wolfwood could believe for a second that heaven is real and it’s here in his arms.
“You won’t hurt me,” Vash says with so much certainty, so much trust, and that has Wolfwood gasping like a drowning man, coming down and seizing Vash’s mouth in a bruising kiss.
(Or, Wolfwood learns what his hands are capable of)

Summary
Wolfwood eases him back down into the bed. Runs a hand through his own hair, digging his nails in just to feel the burn because he’s seriously starting to think he’s bitten off more than he can chew.
“You idiot,” he breathes into the open air, “I’m goin’ to kill you when you wake up.”
If the sickness doesn’t get to him first. But that thought goes unspoken.
(Or, Vash gives too much of himself away, and Wolfwood is left to pick up the pieces.)

A mission goes wrong and both Soap and Ghost are left wounded. Back home, on his sick-leave, Soap's apartment gets broken into by the very men they were supposed to capture that day. Captain Price sends him a location for a place that should be safe. Soap didn't expect to see Ghost in the doorway when he gets there, bare-footed, in comfortable clothes and his worn-out balaclava.

He’s—as careful as he knows how to be. Not killing someone is, comparatively, easy to track. How can Damian know he’s not manipulating someone unless his actions are as cold, as flatly featureless as they possibly can be? How many times did Talia trick him into staying his hand by feigning pain? How many times did she redirect him away from his wandering wants by showing hurt at his potential rejection? Displays are a bid for control whether he means them to be or not. (Emotions are a weapon, and he leaves his weapons sheathed until they’re absolutely necessary these days.)
