Tommy is so busy staring at their catch that he barely registers when the sound of machinery cuts off. Yellow scales from a long, fish-shaped tail shine brilliantly under the deck lights. Blue lines curl up the sides, twisting and turning round in swirling patterns. It’s probably one of the most beautiful fish tails he’s ever seen, but the rest of the creature is what really has his attention.
Wide, panicked eyes stare into his own as the creature claws at its throat, chest heaving as it whines and writhes on the deck. It’s… human?
But the tail.

It’s almost pathetic how easily Tommy’s body curls into a ball, knees pressed tight to his chest. It’s like instinct. Like surrender.
Tommy came to college to escape his past, but part of it has resurfaced.
This is better than that, he tries to assure himself. This is nothing like bruises on his ribs, hands around his collar, or awful words spat at him.
Besides, he’s an adult now, isn’t he? He’s eighteen. He’s supposed to be all grown up.
So why does he feel so much like a child?

Summary
They had lost. Salem had succeeded with her plan, and had laid the continent to ruin. There was nothing left of Atlas, Mantle, its people...nothing. But a fragment of Ozpin's powers remain in Oscar, and it's enough for a shred of hope. They couldn't fix what had happened, but perhaps, they could stop it before it ever occurred. Qrow would stop at nothing to save what he had lost, including James and Clover. Even if that meant travelling back in time and having to relieve that recent trauma.
But, when you mess with time, it tends to bite back.
Despite knowing what's going to happen, Qrow soon realizes that he can't always prevent the destined path. Clover's death looms ahead, and James' spiral into his own pit of fear still sends shockwaves throughout Atlas. It's the only chance he has, however, at a sliver of a happy ending.

Summary
Over 6,000 years ago, an alien race calling themselves Gems made planetfall on Remnant and claimed it as a colony world. One Rose Quartz soldier fell in love with the beautiful planet and its diverse inhabitants, took the name Summer, and led a rebellion against Pink Diamond, the colony's Gem governor. The war ended with the Rose Rebellion victorious, but the Gem Homeworld's final assault left Remnant permanently scarred, and corrupted nearly all of the Gems left on its surface into vicious, mindless monsters.
Remnant, Present Day. Ruby Rose Quartz is something no one thought possible: the child of a Gem and an organic being, a human. There's no guidebook to growing up half-Gem, but Ruby's determined to turn her unorthodox nature to her advantage and become the greatest Huntress of Gem monsters that Remnant has ever seen, just like her mom.
But first she needs to get herself and this strange white-haired human girl out of danger. Hopefully Weiss isn't afraid of heights...
