Summary
Two years after a car wreck cost him all of his memories, Julian had settled into his new-not-new life and was content enough. A boyfriend of five years, his doctor, and his job at the Blue Mountain Nature Center -a lovely little place just outside of the city and not far from the Witcher's Keep- made for a nice life. Or at least a more or less decent one. Sure he felt like things were missing but, as Valdo and Dr. S said, of course he felt like that, he had amnesia. A little excitement every now and again helped. Like the new visitor at the Center. And this other new visitor. This one too. A little excitement every now and again helped. And so did getting to pretend that he was important enough for it to be purposeful when these Witchers and Witches seemed to seek him out to chat.
Meanwhile, in the nearly three years since Jaskier's kidnapping and presumed murder, the Kaer Morhen family had had to accept that the musician's fate would be an ever painful mystery they couldn't get answers to. And a question about taking care of Lil' Bleater didn't seem like the type of thing that would change that.

Between gigs and side jobs, his days are far from standard working hours, the house is old so who would be alarmed by a few odd noises now and then, and after a lifetime of ADHD, who is he to say that he didn’t leave every single cabinet door open and rearrange his mugs in the cupboard without realizing it?
“The fucking writing in the mirror wasn’t a clue?” Priscilla asks with a dubious eyebrow raised.

Summary
Of the all of the things Geralt expected to find when he got home, a deeply asleep seal on his couch was not one of them.
He bends to set his workbag on the ground, not taking his eyes off of the animal as he does so. After a twelve-hour shift handling the chaos that happens every autumn as creatures migrate and prepare to hibernate for the winter, he has half a mind to simply turn around and walk away. Eskel has a comfortable couch; Geralt could simply sleep at his place and leave the seal to his own devices. It’s been a long day, does it really need to be longer?
Roach murrow-ing at him with great offense from her place at the top of the stairs tells him that yes, it does. His cat is clearly not going to deal with their intruder.

He did not, of course, give his name as Jaskier - if anyone connected him-as-a-witcher to him-as-a-bard, he doubted anything good would come from it - and he’d debated taking a new alias entirely, before deciding that Julian was a perfectly adequate name that he wouldn’t have to train himself to answer to. He might as well get some use out of it too - he hadn’t gone by it properly since he was sixteen, which was rather a waste of a name, if he did say so himself.
So, Julian the maybe-perhaps-a-witcher had settled into a comfortable routine on the path - kill monsters, get paid, test the limits of a witcher’s ability to tolerate drink, and abjectly refuse to buy a horse on the grounds that he would rather not be responsible for a four-legged suicide machine.
He really should have expected life or Destiny or whatever to throw him a curveball after that, because nothing could ever be fucking simple for him.

This was far from the first time someone had wanted Geralt. This wasn’t the first time it was someone Geralt wanted back. And this time, it was good. It would be a good match. But his gut said no. A good match wasn’t enough. Geralt deserved – needed better than that. He deserved glorious – passionate – spectacular love. That was what he wanted, for Geralt.
Jaskier is a Cupid, an immortal semi-divine entity or an anthropomorphic personification of an emotional experience (depending on who you ask). He set out to find Geralt someone he could fall in love with. He wasn't counting on falling in love for himself.

Jaskier was the second most popular whore in all of Oxenfurt because his attention wasn’t an act; Jaskier fell in love easily and with almost everyone around him. He fell out of love just as quickly, which was a blessing because even a bard can only take so much heartbreak, but just a smile, a word, a glance or even a gesture and he was hopelessly in love. He loved almost all his customers earnestly and they always left with a spring in their step, a pleased blush on their cheeks or a small, secretive smile on kiss swollen lips.
He was authentic. Who knew that it would be his personality and not his species that would draw Witchers to him like moths to a flame?
