Summary
Steve is from a small town; less than 3,000 people, and he's been lonely all his life. When he leaves for college, his parents warn him against the heathens of the rest of the world, but his eyes find someone interesting, someone his parents would hate, hide from, pray for. And Steve finds that he can't really bring himself to care what they'd think. As his faith fades, so does his loneliness, and something else takes their place.

You’re the bottom bitch of O&S, their best girl, huh?’ Eddie laughs, eyes wandering down over Steve, whose back teeth grind. ‘Not that I blame ‘em, obviously. But see, here’s the thing, kiddo. I’m an actual fucking lawyer, not some pretty little prostitute in a big boy suit. I don’t give a fuck what the public thinks. I’m here to prove fact and navigate law. And this case? You can circus it up all you want, dance on a fucking pole for all I care.’ He smirks coldly, rises to stand first. ‘I’m gonna fuck you up, and beat your ass, and tank your client while giving mine the best shot he has, and I’ll do it on the taxpayer’s dime because your breed?’ he utters, shaking his head, smile dark and disgusted, ‘sicken me. So, fuck your plea deal, Harrington, ‘cause I sure as shit already fucked you.’

He kind of resents that she expects him to pick up the babysitting when she leaves the state.

Summary
“What are you wearing, big boy?” Eddie asks before dissolving into peals of elated laughter, mixing perfectly with Robin’s own hiccuping giggles.
Steve straightens up. He catches sight of his own face reflected back at him from the dark windows and for the first time that night, he’s glad no one else is here. It’d be hard to explain the force of his grin and the way his cheeks have turned splotchy and pink even in the cold air.
Steve dutifully waits for a break in the laughter to answer Eddie’s question. “White sweater, green vest, blue jeans, white sneakers,” he lists out, the corners of his mouth twitching as he fights against himself to maintain that same droll tone.
“That’s so cute, baby."
OR: It starts as a joke, but Eddie just keeps calling.
