Summary

Somehow, in some twisted, unbelievable turn of events, the fate of the entire planet, billions upon billions of people, had fallen on Ryland Grace's shoulders. It was a burden he wasn't fit to carry. A burden that he could feel in all its massiveness weighing down on his chest, squeezing his lungs until all he could eke out of them where wheezing, barely-there breaths.

Martin was the self-sacrificial type. He was the one who woke up every night just to pull Chris out of a nightmare. He was the one who tested the more questionable technology Aviva whipped up. He was the one who took on extra tasks when someone wasn’t feeling well. He was the one who would take the blame when the brothers landed themselves in trouble. He was the one who would carry the burdens of everyone else around him, while locking his own away in a dark corner, and never once complain.
And Chris knew for a fact, the only reason Martin didn’t trade places with him when Diego dragged him away and locked him within his own mind was because his brother couldn’t work miracles.

Summary
The same man stood there with the light shining behind him, golden hair illuminated like a halo, glasses placed haphazardly on his face, a glare from the light obscuring his eyes. A smear of bright blood colored his cheek, his lips, drips staining his shirt, a taint that Simon had brought with him. He was glowing, an avenging angel here to punish Simon for everything he'd done, for everything he'd ruined... for the souls he could not save, no matter how hard he'd tried. He'd tried, damnit. Was there really no atonement for him? Had he gone too far?
"You need rest," the angel said, his hands coming up, palms opened to Simon.
There was no rest.
