Midoriya Izuku has struggled with hurting himself for as long as he's known. He hit himself when he was under ten, scratching his arms and legs when he was in his first years of junior high, and finally cutting when he was in 3rd year of junior high. It started off "small". He would fiddle with pencil sharpeners until the blade fell out, cutting shallow because they would always go dull after a few weeks. After Kacchan's comment about how he should throw himself off of the school's rooftop, he went through his father's hygiene drawer in his parents' bathroom and found a razor blade. It was intimidating at first, but soon the wounds kept getting deeper he became obsessed with what layers of skin he could break through. From dermis to fat to fascia; he was withering fast. Soon he had a routine once he got settled into U.A.
