Summary
The first time Suguru kneels, it is for a God everyone already reveres.
He would never call himself religious before. Not in any real way. He’d never seen a point in a blind, senseless worship, in devoting himself to a God he couldn’t see, or hear, or touch. In a God that, despite all that effort, belonged to everyone. One that, given the chance, wouldn't respond to desperate calls regardless.
A God like that, on the off chance that it existed, wouldn’t be worth the devotion. There was no purpose in it. Meaningless, Suguru thought.
But the first time he kneels, he understands.

The first time Satoru kneels, it is at the altar of a man.
Satoru has never kneeled. He has never needed, nor wanted to, before.
For Satoru was a God, and why would a God ever need to kneel? Certainly not for another supposed God. Let alone for a man.

Summary
Hedonist that he is, Lestat has never particularly cared to be held to the constraints of a schedule. Louis may enjoy the routine and predictability of something as prosaic as the requirements of managing a business–one of his many little idiosyncrasies that Lestat simultaneously enjoys and is frequently irritated by–but for him? Non. He can enjoy the artistry of a well-planned ball or the satisfaction of a business deal well-struck, but he’s always enjoyed the freedom of not quite knowing what’s coming next. In a long, long life, it’s far too easy to fall into a rut and find oneself constrained to it for decades before noticing.
Even with his taste for surprise, however, Louis holding out a tiny, sooty, sniffling child is a shock he is not best pleased by.
He flicks his eyes up from the big-eyed, dripping moppet, raising a brow and feeling his lip curl slightly in distaste. The child reeks of smoke and fear and God only knows what else.
“Put it back,” he says flatly.
(AU based on the idea of Louis finding Claudia at the age of five like in the book but raising her until she's old enough to be changed) (marked complete because each chapter can stand alone but will be updated)

The woman giggled in response, and it sounded as dirty as the sweet nothings Louis might hear at any of the badly lit tables in Mascarade. “Non, je suis désolée– please don’t take offense, darling. I only find your name to be…” she tapped a finger to her lip, savoring her thought. “Mm… ironic.”
“I didn’t quite catch yours.” Louis felt, all at once, that she should go. But moreso, overwhelmingly, she felt that she must stay. Her painful shoes were too heavy to move. The woman held out her hand, her wrist elegant in its bend. Louis moved to clasp it.
“Lestat,” she whispered, before turning Louis’ hand over and pressing her lips to the knuckles like the burn of an iron stove. Louis' stomach turned nauseatingly, and she took back her hand.
