So surely he can be forgiven for indulging in a few more kisses than he might have otherwise. Surely his lack of witty retort against the boy's soft-muttered words is totally explainable.
The memory may be recurring, but that is all it is. It's a sickening, heady little fantasy - a thing that will stay trapped in Julien's chest, where it belongs. He's sure that the boy has already forgotten about the whole entire incident. Give Julien a little bit of time, a few more battles and someone better to bed, and he'll be able to do the very same.

This is about Astarion being in control.
Not so much being in control of Gale, but being in control of what happens to his own body. In control of how and when his body is consumed, if he allows it at all. After so long with no bodily autonomy, no say in how he was used, no say in his pleasure or pain, sometimes Astarion needs to remind himself that the only person in control of his body now is himself.

Gale continued to regard the amulet with a rather smug grin, clearly pleased with his observations.
Admittedly, Astarion’s initial reaction was a bit disappointed, expecting something flashier or more useful. Stealth and deception was more his speed, and not…whatever that was. But he supposed it might have its uses, or at least sell for a pretty penny.
“Well, good to know.”
He held out an expectant hand, and waited for Gale to return the amulet to him. But when the wizard finally stopped his preening and noticed, he was clearly in no rush to hand it back.
