Summary
Deena. Of course it was Deena who threw open the door, some snarky remark already half out of her mouth before she realized just who was outside. She froze, reminding Sam for all the world of the expression she pulled when she had to tell her she was moving to Sunnyvale.
“Sam,” she acknowledged. It was only one word, but her voice gave out for half of it. “What are you doing here?”
“I— ” For all the thinking Sam had done about coming to her ex-girlfriend’s house, she completely blanked on how to explain herself. For one, Deena didn’t even know she had a boyfriend, let alone one she couldn’t stand to be around. She settled on, “I’m sorry. I didn’t have anywhere else to go.”
Or:
Sam hates her new Sunnyvale life. When yet another fight with Peter ends up with her storming out of her own house in the middle of a blizzard, she has extremely limited places to go. She just hopes Deena won't freak out about some of the more drastic changes she's made in her life, like her asshole boyfriend.

Summary
“Yeah, you were,” Will agrees, falling back into the couch cushions. While leaning against something his posture is sort of slouched, but he still carries that new air of pure confidence that makes Mike’s heart spin. “I forgot to ask before, by the way— what did I look like?”
A flood of descriptions climb to his tongue instantly— beautiful, ethereal, angelic. He’d been thinking those words since the fight at the Mac-Z ended, but saying them aloud felt… different. It felt more revealing than he’d like, too exposing. At one point, Mike realizes that he’s waited a weird amount of time to answer and now everyone’s staring at him and they probably think he’s an idiot. Stupid Robin is giving him this analyzing look like she’s dissecting his insides. At least it feels slightly less intrusive than the one Murray is fixing him with. Once again, Mike realizes he should really have come up with a response by now.
“Cool,” he says. The singular word makes his face hot, even though it’s far from what he actually wants to say. “You looked— you looked really cool, Will.”
OR
Will getting powers is definitely Mike's gay awakening. He's also "secretly" jealous of Robin and Will's "relationship."

Summary
“I’m glad they moved me closer to the art block,” Mike mentions after a second, and Will blinks at him. “It’ll be easier to bother you, now.”
Will clicks his teeth. “Incredibly professional,” he notes, and Mike’s smile widens. Sometimes, Will’s heart feels moments from exploding, like a firework someone had poured gasoline onto and threw in a fire.
“I’m the pinnacle of professional,” Mike decides, oblivious to Will’s cardiovascular issues.
Between being a teacher in a school full of chaos, being in love with his best friend and coworker of several years, and Lucas' worst idea yet, Will tries his best to make it through another school year.

“Dude, you have to kiss me,” Mike attempts to reason with Will, holding his hands out in front of him and wearing his most convincing grin, “it’s supposed to show trust. We can’t make an effective promise without it.”
“Are you sure this is legit?” Will tilts his head, looking skeptical. “I’m pretty sure that no spit swear should work like this.”
“Of course I’m sure.” Mike tries to look as confident as possible. “The kiss is what seals the deal. That’s why they call it the spit swap spit swear. We need to try it.”
When Dustin makes up a new variant of the famous spit swear as a joke, Mike tests its effectiveness with Will a series of times, for the experiment and nothing more. As anyone would have expected, it starts to seriously blur the lines in Will and Mike’s friendship.

Mike brightens, and he’s just a step or two away, now, and Will could reach out and touch him. “I’m glad,” he says, “I was – I was hoping you would.”
“Oh.” Will really wants to kiss him. “Well, I do.”
Mike beams. “Good.”
“Good,” Will echoes, feeling at a loss for what to say, but it doesn’t seem to matter when Mike’s grin only widens, and then his hands are on Will again, like they always seem to be, lately, and Will has no protests when they’re only a few inches away from each other.
Mike has been acting strange, and, if Will didn't know any better, he'd almost think Mike was flirting with him.
Thankfully, he knows better.

Will frowned, “I hope it’s not,” he said, “I don’t like anybody we know enough to marry them — except our friends, obviously, but that’s different.”
Hugo, if it was even possible, looked somehow immensely more excited by these words, “I can’t tell you who it is,” he giggled, “That’s a really big spoiler.”
Mike Wheeler’s son arrives in Hawkins with no explanation, snapped back in time entirely by accident — and he latches on to none other than Will Byers. If only they all knew why.
