"Feels nice, eh?" Nakahara asked as he threaded his fingers through the other's freshly shampooed hair, the smell of vanilla and something uniquely Dazai filling his senses.
"Mm. It's quiet." Dazai murmured in agreement, managing a short nod before he rested his head on his partner's chest, the sound of Nakahara's heartbeat akin to a lullaby to his ears. He can't remember the last time he felt this relaxed and weirdly content. Safe.
This was usually something Dazai could only dream about, tucked away in the redhead's arms in a quiet countryside where they were just existing together without a care in the world. No Mafia business, no Agency affairs, nothing.

His feet moved quick at the subtle threat hidden underneath the carefully crafted faux disinterest.
"Listen carefully, Mori-san, because I will only say this once." Dazai spoke the name like he was spitting out venom, but the poison had longed settled in his system. "If I see even a single strand of hair out of place on their heads- and believe you me I will know if it was your doing- I will raze the Port Mafia to the ground, I'll make you watch every single second and I won't care if Yokohama burns down along with it."
Ah. Maybe Dazai really has grown soft.

Summary
Dazai's earpiece crackled back to life after a long bout of silence as he stopped for a split second before resuming up and up towards the roof. "A few minutes out. Wait for me, 'samu. Don't do anything we didn't discuss."
He merely hummed in response, snickering to himself about how his partner knew him so well. Well, it wasn't like he planned to do anything 'reckless' anyway, he'd stick true to his original plans.

He continues to wander aimlessly around the school. And then, faintly, he hears it.
Music.
Is that... piano?
He glances around, and the grand doors to the school’s auditorium greet him not too far ahead.
Chuuya can’t help but feel drawn to the sound. It’s like nothing he’s ever heard before in his life. He listens to an abundance of different types of music, but nothing has ever sounded like this.
He walks over to the door, the melody increasing in its volume and tempo as he gets closer.
He cracks the door open and slides into the auditorium silently, not wanting to disrupt the musician, and carefully closes it behind him. And when Chuuya looks up at the stage—
He’s enraptured.

Summary
There's a rather fine vintage of red wine already uncorked, aerating next to a pair of pristine wine glasses on the coffee table. Further down the table there's a shape Chuuya vaguely recognizes as a carafe from one of his cabinets, filled with the stems of a bouquet of riotous colors and adding a faint hint of floral to the overall scent profile of the room. The music is easily traceable to the old stereo in the corner that Chuuya couldn't bear to look at for so long yet equally hated the thought of getting rid of. All of this, however, had nothing on the absolute vision that was Dazai Osamu sprawled so casually across his couch, as if he belonged there, as if he had never left.

Summary
Dazai ends up in a coma after his most serious suicide attempt yet. He has left three letters, one of them being for Chuuya.
Sitting at the bedside of his comatose body, Chuuya tries to understand.

Dazai is falling. In the orange glow of sunrise, the waves of his hair are fanning around him, and his dark eyes are wide with fear and shock, his hand outstretched towards Chuuya. His bandages are unravelling all around him in the wind.
Chuuya is not even thinking anymore. All he can see is that hand reaching for him as he launches off against the balustrade and falls after him.
He uses his ability to make himself heavier, his own drop faster, his hand reaching for Dazai right back.
It's only when he catches Dazai in his arms, holding his head tight against his own shoulder and trying to fly back up that he remembers; this won't work.
He must have been really out of his mind to have forgotten it at all.

“Tsushima Shuuji,” Chuuya reads out loud. “A bright, optimistic young man with a pep in his step and a zest for life. Hang on–is this referring to you?”
“Unfortunately,” Dazai laments, sighing dramatically. “You just got away with ‘science nerd’ and ‘soccer player,’ but I’m supposed to be an artist! I hate art! It’s useless!”
“Shut the fuck up. That’s not the problem here. You? A ‘zest for life?’ Looking forward to each new morning? Hah! Rimbaud would sooner come back to life.”
Dazai turns to Chuuya with the barest facsimile of a smile painted over his lips.
“I,” he says sweetly, “am going to gut you open like a fish.”
Dazai and Chuuya are seasoned mafiosos at the ripe old age of almost-seventeen. They’ve fought gang wars, interrogated prisoners, and done all manner of unspeakable things. Now, they face their greatest challenge yet: going (undercover) to a real high school. With regular teens (who may or may not be desperately trying to get them to kiss).
