When he looked back at all the years he had known the Summoner, Alfonse could recognize that he had always been deeply fond of her. In hindsight it was embarrassing he hadn't realized his feelings sooner. That it had taken several years for him to understand his own heart.
The eye-opening, world-rattling realization hit him during Askr's annual wedding themed celebration."What do you think? Do I look stupid?" Kiran spun around in front of Alfonse, and the hem of the wedding dress flared around her. The veil wrapped around her body. Passers-by stopped to watch. An embarrassed blush dusted Kiran's cheeks pink. Alfonse opened and closed his mouth like a fish on dry land, struggling to form a coherent sentence.

“This is my bedroom, Chika,” Alfonse says as they approach another door. “I haven't used it much, between how often I'd been using my bedroom in the Order's castle and, more recently, the sofa in my father's study. I hope it isn't too…dusty.”Chika smiles. “I'm sure we'll manage. We always do.”
“Very true,” he chuckles. “With our marriage finally official, however, they will soon have us both permanently move to the wing of the castle that belongs to the reigning monarch. So this is only a temporary retreat for us until then.” He turns the handle and gives a nod in the direction of the now opened room. “After you, my love.”
