He looks up at Suguru (whether he is a figment of his imagination or a specter, it doesn’t matter, because he is here and he is, in this moment, as real as the day Satoru lost him). “Don’t I deserve to rest now?”
“Mm,” Suguru hums in response, reaching out to card his fingers through the strands of Satoru’s cloud-white hair. “You do.”
No, Satoru thinks, reprising his earlier train of thought. This Suguru feels a little bit more like the version he was back when Satoru believed that maybe, foolishly, a little part of him belonged to him. He didn’t know what he wanted back then, or what it meant to desire immortalization in the form of Suguru’s eyes on him at all times, but now he knows, and he almost wants to give words to the regret forming in his lungs like the petals of a crushed flower, but he’s so so tired and Suguru is so so warm.
(Or, Gojo Satoru ends up in the afterlife, surrounded by some of the people he loves most in this world. Of course there's a catch.)
